I personally use Xilisoft Video Converter, that also does audio files, but Goldwave is still the shnizz when it comes to i/o audio conversion. I mean I use Ableton, but that would be like flying your car to the international space station to get an oil change.
I was going to mention QuickTime but Druff uses Windows. And now that I think about it, Audacity isn't what I use to convert audio file size. But its price (free) is right up Druff's alley.
