128kbits for sure makes a difference in music quality but 64k works fine for radio.
Back when I did a few shows I set it at 96k going in the middle but any show that goes 9 hours long is going to be 100MB+ even at 64kbits.

I personally use Xilisoft Video Converter, that also does audio files, but Goldwave is still the shnizz when it comes to i/o audio conversion. I mean I use Ableton, but that would be like flying your car to the international space station to get an oil change.
