It's always great to be able to enter a thread & find intelligent conversation devoid of childish insults & asinine chest pounding.

Unfortunately this is not one of those threads.

Golf is fucking serious business up in the PFA. I'm off to hack my way around the muni for a twilight session. Haven't played in two years and all of a sudden I get to play 2x in one week. Sweet.

I know what you are saying. You go to a stronger grip, and it will most likely take it out of the mid irons for the most part. I can tell you from personal experience though it definitely won't get rid of it for sure with the driver. It definitely helps, but that ugly ass slice will still show up once in a while, and for me at least, it's ALL about swing path. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main culprit of a slice an "outside in" swing path? Grip can't change that IMO, grip mainly helps with club head angle at impact. Even if it's squared up more, if your still swinging steep and outside in the slice will still be there. Maybe a bit less, but it will still be there.

Outside in makes you cut across ball so yes it helps make you slice. You standing too close to it? Ball too far up in stance...big problem for people with longer clubs.

I have a hard time believing you're a scratch golfer if you say it's impossible to slice the golf ball with the right grip. A slice comes from your swing path coming from outside the ball which creates the slice spin. BTW I hit a draw and whoever said earlier that it's almost impossible to hook a golf ball with the new drivers is fucking retarded, my misses are snap hooks.

Sounds pretty awesome. You must be the man. Uncle Rico can throw a ball over them mountains, and you played golf with Tiger Woods. Both awesome. Awesome.

My slice isn't there all that much anymore. Maybe 1 in 30 drives, and I know right away why it happens, I can feel it. If I mishit now it's mostly a push, sometimes a pull. My issue with the driver, now that I am pretty consistent with swing path, is balance. I can feel it in my setup, and if I feel even a little bit off I will push or pull probably 25% of the time. It's sweet when I find that perfect balance though and get into a rhythm. I've gone through a few straight rounds where I couldn't miss with the driver, then a week later I am all over the place most of the day. It's all about balance, and now I am in the process of getting a pre shot routine that helps me find it every time. Easier said than done though.

Ok, I can't slice the ball. I draw the ball, like you. I could be wrong, but I strongly feel I can prevent his slice by changing his grip, ball position and posture. I don't know how that has anything to do with whether I am a scratch golfer. I used to be a plus 2. Now I'm like a 2, so technically I'm no longer scratch.

On a serious note, you were better on radio this week. You started slow and uninterested but you got much better towards the end.

would love to talk about preps, swing thoughts, short game tips and reads on the greens.

as for my difficulties currently they are pulls hitting driver and long irons. I recently changed grips to basically a total overhand. I've lost some yardage but everything is going either completely straight or completely pulled. Using this grip I've had to club up 1-2 clubs on my buddies who basically shoot in the low to mid 80's. For some reason I just cannot turn over on the ball and that's why I switched my grip. I mean if I go normal I'm slicing basically anything. The good news is the tips where we play arent exactly crazy long so if i pop off a 250-260 drive on the fairway likely im in great shape. I haven't lost my short game at all, knocked one in from the sand, chipped one in and on a huge upslope flopped a shot in over the weekend. Knocked down a bunch of 1 putts etc. I'm completely fine with a 260 drive, I know I can go longer but it's going to be very inconsistent. Biggest issue is my approach, I just seem to pull the fuck out of other shot or hit it entirely too fat.

if anyone has question i would be happy to chime in, im not the authority but im sure i could help.
When you pull the ball it's usually because your left shoulder is bailing out or your club face is simply to closed at impact. If the ball goes dead left thats good because it means you were on plane. If you pull the ball left and it slices back right that means you also came "over the top" which creates the spin.

As a 10 handicap, your slice really can't be that awful anyways...unless you hit it 300 yrds. Then any miss hit gets ugly. I know that well.

It has something to do with you being a scratch golfer because this is basic knowledge for most scratch golfers and a golfer who played in high school let alone college. If you were a scratch golfer without knowing basic swing mechanics that's pretty impressive. You would have to be very talented like Bubba Watson who has never had a lesson.

    I'm consistent 275 to 300. Yesterday I hit one 360 with a 30mph wind to my back

And weiss, I know you're reading this shit... WTF has happened to Lee???? Fuck!!!! 5 runs AGAIN!

Bubba Watson isn't a scratch golfer. He's like a top ten guy in the world. Scratch isn't that hard to attain. How good are you out of curiousity? I'll send you a video of me on youtube and you tell me, based on my swing what you thing my handicap is.

My cousin just picked up 1 of these, will add about 15 yards to your drive, it's also adjustable. He still has a unbelievable slice tho lol. I hit about 15 yards further than my Great Big Bertha.

My driving and iron play is pretty solid, I can hit some blasts off the tee. Putting absolutely sucks because I never practice putting.

Post your clubs, Great Big Bertha drivers "which is actually small by today's standards"., set King Cobra 2 irons/or generic clones which i actually prefer over the Cobras, Odyssey Putter
