The number changes every minute. And no description after 6 hours. That's a completely new aspect to these shootings.

Today's was the 41st school shooting this year.......no other country, let alone developed country, has this problem......it has got to be addressed if we want children/young adults to be able to learn in an environment that is conducive to learning.....druff's post was neither funny nor appropriate......you can hate Obama if you want but we need to stop burying our young people ........we have 4percent of the worlds population and 45 per cent of the privately owned firearms......I doubt very much that the answer is more guns.......

I feel much safer having a gun in my house than I would under any kind of program where I give mine up and trust that everyone else will, too.

These shootings, while tragic, still account for a very small percentage of murders in the US. That's important to remember.

I think a lot of it has to do with the new generation hitting their late teens and early twenties right now. They were raised in the internet generation with a cornucopia of psycho meds in their systems because their parents don't know how to parent. A great deal of their self esteem and self worth is tied up in pics being liked on Instagram and the amount of retweets they get.

Where two decades ago a depressed teen would just off himself, now they want to take out those that they feel have wronged them. You toss that in with the notoriety that they see all of these other killers get and you have a narcissist's wet dream. They do not get the attention that they feel they deserve and is owed to them so the next logical step in their progression is the want to achieve infamy.

Would there be as many mass killings if you could magically make every gun in the world disappear? Probably not, but there will always be the person that wants to cause mass harm and will find out how to make pipe bombs or fertilizer bombs. It is the flawed nature of humanity as a whole.

He probably wasn't copying Columbine, but one has copied another for years to where it became more commonplace. Kids now know that if you are pissed off at everyone, are a psycho, and want to become famous, you kill a bunch of people at your school.
