Stories like his are all too common among the clowns I deal with at work. Ironically a lot of them don't claim to be innocent and I really do feel for some because truth is they are doing time for drug shit and they should be getting help not prison. One dude is in he had a stroke while in the prison. His rap sheet is nothing but "dangerous drug violations". He wasn't dealing or anything but because he'd been pinched twice before it became a felony and netted him state prison time. Dudes like him need help not jail but somehow I guess Arpaio and the others have to justify the prisons and jails. Others got some fucked up stories. One guy ended up in our infirmary after needing facial and reconstructive surgery after He got an assbeating known as a lock and sock where another inmate puts a big ass master lock padlock in a sock and uses it as a weapon dude got his eye socket crushed. He stil needs more surgeries. Now why he's in jail he tells everybody it was self defend that some guy was stalking his wife and shit and he shot him. Truth his wife was fucking the dead guy while hubby was in jail on other charges. He found out flipped out and made her call the victim to come over. The guy then blew him away point blank and took the body to the desert and burned it.. Yeah clearly first degree murder but good ole DA Bill Montgomery allowed him to plead out to second and got 25yrs instead of a trip to Death Row which is what he deserved. The wife btw got 18yrs for her part in the whole fiasco.

Having him plea to a long sentence is cheaper in both the short and long run (because even if convicted of 1st, the passion aspect of the crime could be grounds for lengthy appeals), and it keeps him off the streets for most of the rest of his life.
