I wish the Dodgers didn't put that idiotic opt out clause in Greinke's 6-year deal, which was a monster deal at the time.

It fucked them either way. If he sucked, they would end up wasting a lot of cash. If he was great, he would opt out after 3 years.

So Greinke has been everything they hoped he would be, and more. Clearly he is going to opt out, and clearly he is going to win the Cy Young, barring a meltdown in the final 2 months.

He just became a dad, so he isn't going to pitch again until at least Saturday.

Will he break Orel's record? He has 15 1/3 innings to go to tie it, but I don't think he'll get there.

I like the fact that Greinke just spits out what's on his mind. I know it's a product of his social anxiety disorder, but it's also refreshing to get the honesty. He even admits when money motivates his decisions (which is why he said he went to the Dodgers).

He almost never gets bombed. Doesn't throw as many dominant games as Kershaw, and doesn't go as deep into games, but he just almost never has a terrible start.

The guy also doesn't get rattled. That's where Kershaw has a problem. He has a temper, and sometimes loses it if he's not pitching at his best. Not Greinke. He can get off to a bad start, and then suddenly shake it off and be dominant the rest of the game. He even did it at the All Star game after giving up a leadoff HR to Trout.

Greinke's main weakness is tiredness late in the game. He will serve up a lot of HR in the 7th and 8th innings if you don't monitor his fatigue.

He also had some sore elbow issues in spring training, which apparently haven't hampered him in 2015. But it's something to watch out for in the future. Will be a shame if the Dodgers waste this Kershaw/Greinke combo and don't win a World Series. Reminds me a bit of the Braves in the Maddux/Glavine years, but at least they got one championship.

Dodgers desperately need starting pitching beyond Kershaw/Greinke, especially with Brett Anderson now injured. Front office made a mistake by signing two injury prone pitchers to be the 4th and 5th starters. One is out for the season (McCarthy), and one miraculously stayed healthy, but finally got hurt. And then there's Ryu, who never threw a pitch.

$270 million and 60% of the rotation right now is comprised of minor leaguers. Ouch.

Obviously Guerrero is someone they will look to trade, but perhaps they will even consider moving Puig.

I also think the Dodgers are willing to part with any minor leaguer not named Seager or Urias.

Sanlmar, AGon sucked in Boston, but that's because it just wasn't the right place for him. He's a lot better than you give him credit for. When you need a base hit in a critical moment, few players are better at putting the bat on the ball and swatting a single or double. Yes, he's a very slow baserunner, but he hits for average and power consistently, and even plays good defense. He's not deserving of your hatred.

same could be said for pujols/trout

two future hall of famers (assuming trout stays healthy), it would be ridiculous for them to waste two of most talented players to ever play the game by not winning a world series

trout is in his prime, and pujols is having his best year in a long time. if they don't get it done this year...

Going to Dodgers-Mets tonight, was hoping to see Greinke or I would have chosen the Harvey game or the deGrom game. Oh well.

Oye Sanlmar, in this town, AGon sells tickets to the fans of Mexican persuasion...biggest draw of Mexicans since Fernando...Dodgers mucho happy

Hispanics are almost 40% of the population in California now, and 50% of the people age 18 and under in Southern California are Hispanic

Looking forward to today's HOF inductions since it includes, Pedro, the GOAT pitcher, IMO, as well as another ex-Expo, Randy "The Big Unit" Johnson.

Here's a good article from former Expos beat writer Jeff Blair:

I live in the area and the phils are so far away they need way more than that...outside of nola/franco there is nothing there (this weekend's performance not withstanding)...they are old and need to rebuild that farm system that they traded to get the old guys to make the run...ruben sucks a major rhino dick as a GM...

Enjoy your 3-month rental of Cueto.

Yes, he was the best available pitcher who was up for trade, but he's not staying in KC past 2015.

Also, your rotation sucks so far this year, so your team may not look quite as sweet this year in the postseason.

Yup.. that team is a disaster.

I have both Franco and Nola on my fantasy team, so I hope they do well.

Pretty funny how your GM is sitting on these veteran assets and trying to extract unrealistic return for them.

Still a few days for more trades to shake out, but I would be shocked if Toronto doesnt stake a claim now for 1, if not 2, of the remaining starters on the market. That offense is just superb. Sadly for them, most of their young starters got hurt this year. If they miss out on Hamels (or Price?), but if they snagged 2 of the next tier down of supposedly available pitchers (Shields, Samrdizijsjsjajaja, Haren, Latos, etc) I'd call them faves in the AL. That 1-4 of Reyes, Donaldson, Bautista, Encarnacion is just beastly. The latter two there have actually been really unlucky this year with horribly low BABIP's, and should actually improve here on out. It is already the best offense in the game as is, despite those two's low averages, as they've still hit for power.

So so so much fail in such a short post.

No shit Cueto is a 3-month rental. Unlike your GM and team we dont spend ridiculous amounts of money on free agent players, only to not really accomplish anything. Did you think you made a sick burn by telling me he is a rental player like I didnt know that already? And he is not the best pitcher available by trade, that would be Cole Hamels. Im sure if LA gets him later this week you will all of a sudden have an epiphany and realize that.

Our rotation sucks and you have two of the best pitchers in baseball. Wanna guess who's team has allowed less runs? How has that dominant regular season pitching done for you in the post season? Oh yeah, Kershaw chokes I forgot. And since you have such a great team, wanna compare records? I didnt think so. Poor man's Dodgers my ass. The Royals are head and shoulders above the Dodgers (Dan Druff pun and all). The Royals nearly won the Series last year. Maybe if you guys spend another $300-$400 million you can get there. Keep chugging away you little engines, you'll get to the top eventually. And let me tell you the scenery is pretty sweet up here.

Kansas City is just rounding into form and everyone should be worried about them. Cueto added to the staff. Volquez has been every bit as good as Shields last year. Duffy has been amazing since coming off the DL, throwing all quality starts. Ventura just went out yesterday and threw 7 innings of 1 run ball. So look up all the stats you want about our starters ERA, but guess what in the playoffs we aint starting Guthrie or Vargas or Chris Young. Thats where the bloated starter stats come from.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Team is .500 exactly and not even in the playoffs. Tell me again how they are AL favorites? They are 6.5 out in the division and arent catching the Yankees. So now that relegates them to hoping they win a wild card play in game. Ask Oakland with the aforementioned Samardjia how the play in game treated them last year. I wouldnt hang my hat and hopes on beating Dallas Kuechel in Houston in a play in game. Good luck

I still haven't bought my Bumgarner jersey from last year's massive WS bet.

Is he going to bring the same pitching to this year's post season?

I don't think so. They had an amazing 11 game winning streak where everything came together & they are still only a .500 team.

Their record in 1 run games(10-21) is atrocious for a team with such a great offence, which I don't buy into. They have no idea how to manufacture runs & win these close games.

Bummy is a god. If Allah allows us a post season he will crush souls. Also I still haven't bought my black bummy jersey.
