Law enforcement source: escaped killer David Sweat shot and captured
Escaped killer David Sweat was shot near the Canadian border and caught, law enforcement sources told Fox News Sunday.
Sweat, 35, had been on the run since he and another inmate Richard Matt broke out of the maximum security prison in Dannemora June 6.
Sweat was shot in the town of Constable, just a couple of miles from Canada, Fox News reported. He was said to have been shot by a state trooper.
On Friday, Matt, 49, was killed by a border patrol agent near the town of Malone in northern New York, about 30 miles from the prison.
An autopsy showed Matt had been shot three times in the head, state police said Sunday.
Matt smelled of alcohol after a border patrol agent killed him Friday, the Buffalo News has reported.

Why do you want a convicted killer who orphaned kids to be on the run and not be captured? Are you one of these Natural Born Killer fanboys who think this is a movie? I know you are someone who served time in the yard and somehow proud of it, hopefully one of these guys crosses your path one day. Then you can tell him how cool he is, as he chokes you out.
No Sweat!!! I guess this guy is not Rambo.

Would love to hear the reason why.
Honestly dude, your shtick of being the resident bad ass/ex con/legal system know-it-all is tolerable, but when you say shit like this it comes off very poorly and a little too much on the side of wanting to stay on the wrong side of the law just to stay on the wrong side of the law, with little thought as to the merit of it.
Sweat is a complete scumbag POS who no one in their right mind should have been rooting for.
Honestly this is the first time I've heard of a police tactic used to "shoot to stop" instead of "shoot to kill". Didn't even know that was a thing in law enforcement.
Guarantee that will now be an argument used by far left liberals from here on out. We can use shoot to stop tactics on escaped murderers, but not on average citizens. That should be fun to listen to for the next year or so...
LOL... You definitely didn't offend me. I see this as nothing more than conversation, and TBH I hope I don't offend you either.
Yes, I did miss the part about being dead in 60 minutes. But here's the thing though... That comment really has nothing to do with what you are rooting for. 60 minutes was a prediction, your other comment was wishful thinking and how you feel about things. So basically, no matter what type of criminal we are talking about here you are always rooting against the police, just for the sake of rooting against the police. Maybe you draw the line at child molester's, I don't know, but either way, your line of thinking here is kinda short bus-ish.
After following this story and watching it develop, I can't help but keep wondering these how two characters didn't just carjack someone and drive as far as they could, as fast as they could, away from the prison
they fact they were on foot so close to the prison they escaped from after over a week on the run...well it just boggles my mind.
why the hell were they still on foot ?
front end of the escape plan: brilliant
execution after escaping: piss poor
first thing I would have done would be to find a car, any car...and just drive drive drive.
I don't know the exact proximity, but they were both shot/apprehended not even 200 miles away ?
FAIL imo
So close to the canadian border. Wonder how they were able to stay on the lam so long . So close to the escape too. They should have hopped a train.
Wonder why the dogs didn't make a difference considering they were on foot?

They used pepper to fool the dogs, I think it was the only smart thing they did after escaping from prison.
If they carjacked someone early on, it could have made a difference.
They just didn't have enough money or resources to last awhile.
The police were waiting and hoping they would carjack or kill someone so they could move in and get them.
It won't be long before this story becomes a bad Nicholas Cage movie.
