My dog was a Siberian Husky... No one ever heard of a dog like her living that long... I fed her whatever I ate, she never ate dog food, never got sick or needed to go to the vet... I took her every once in awhile, but I never had to take her for illness... She loved cheeseburgers and rice... She never bit anyone. she snapped at a few people who acted aggressively toward me, and I'm pretty certain she would have murdered anyone who ever tried to hurt me. She maybe shit in the house a dozen times lifetime, and I never did any type of training with her.

I was a kid, I pretty much did everything your not suppose to do with a dog and she lived to be 21, she wasn't even blind or sick when I put her down, she probably would have lived 5 more years but she was just in terrible pain walking and it was sad to watch... I can't even think about my childhood without getting a little choked up over it... My parents paid 5 bucks for her in the 80's and gave her to me for my 6th birthday...

My daughter keeps telling me she wants a little dog but I can't bring myself to do it, because I know the outcome.
Putting down a dog is one of the few times I've ever cried. I had to put down my 11 year old Sheltie in 2005 & had her cremated & she's on the mantle next to the last picture we took of her. Best dog ever. I too get choked up thinking of her.
Took me 2.5 years to come to grips with it & even though I said I'd never have another dog I got Comet(pictured earlier)& she is also a great dog. Couldn't have picked 2 greater companions in my life than Pepper & Comet.
I'm sure others fell the same way.

I've got two dogs that are 12 and 13 now, one of them is on her last legs. How did you put your dog down, take her into the vet and stand beside her while it's done? I can't even stomach the fucking thought of having to put my girl down, guts me. Once these girls go I'll definitely get another couple of dogs after a year or so. I can't imagine life without these loyal creatures running around my home.

Had to put my Miki down and had nightmares about it for months after. She was my best friend and constant companion... there's no way I would have gotten another dog, but my husband made me. In the end, I was glad he did. I ended up rescuing a second one as well. I love my dogs and they make my life so much happier... there will never be another Miki though. She was the best.

I found Weezy about 50 yards off of the road, starving and just about dead. She had been badly abused and abandoned. I rolled her over on to a blanket and carried her to my truck and brought her home, thinking i could get her healthy and give her away.
    That was four years ago.

That was my plan but I was to shaken up by the situation and the vet didn't want me going in because I couldn't even handle being in the waiting room... My girlfriend at the time (who my dog was very attached to) went in with her... It still bothers me, 5 years later, that I wasn't able to keep my shit together to go in with her.

LOL. Fair enough. I know it sounded douchey, don't care. I'm willing to sound like a douche when it comes to the Rock.

His name is Wrigley, and here he is having his way with a Cardinal, haha!
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Adopted mine from the shelter. Lab/retriever mix. Very good dog. Not nearly as hyperactive as all other labs i've ever seen.

2 things that are kinda weird he doesn't like are car rides and water.

Yeah you just go in there with them and hold them through it. It's horrible - the moment their bodies go stiff, you heart shatters into a million pieces.

George Carlin once said that buying a pet is like buying a small tragedy. They are going to die, it's certain - and long before you do. So you have to accept that as part of the deal. But it's crazy hard.
