But that it exists at all is shocking. The VR studios involved operate at a loss because the budget is shockingly bad. Meanwhile they film all over the world. It's a massive, sprawling, epic soap opera with tits and dragons. And really that's something worthy of a measure of respect.

I like the show, don't get me wrong. I tune in and watch every week and likely wouldn't subscribe to HBO if it didn't exist.

    Settle down, nerds.
I'm amazed that people feel obligated to point out how aloof they are from any artistic effort of any social relevance.

They arent good books but they represents an unprecedented volume of effort, and the HBO series has created a unique, dynamic entry into a genre singularly famous for embarrassing failure. Ergo its worth discussing. But yeah if you have no taste or have such a low self esteem that you cant imagine personal opinions being something valid, I can easily see why you would find serious discourse to be off-putting.
Spot on. I never watch fantasy, but I'm glued to GoT. There's never been a television show like it.

Loved the Walker battle with Jon Snow. I liked it better the first time when it was called Army of Darkness.

The Daenerys dialog with Tyrion was by far the best of the season.

Best episode this year by far. I guess Valyrian (sp?) steel works on the white walkers, too.

That episode was fuckin awesome. However, it's a little depressing that there only seems to be one Giant left. Also, I don't know if I missed this at some point but have they explained what the white walkers on horses are? Are they kings? Are they different in some way from the others in the army that just seem to be mindless zombies? It seems like those could be killed without the dragon glass.

Max Read is really helpful, especially for those that haven't read the books.

Shame that "elder" woman got killed - she seemed like another cool badass character.

White Walkers and the army of the dead live in the snow, and are basically wet 24/7, but are afraid of a little water.

Last nights episode was outstanding, but that is going to bother me, and it will most likely never be explained.

    Ah well.

At least winter is definitely coming.

that's the only explanation i've come across that made a little sense

so the assumption is that a bunch of rotting undead can swim faster than the boats? not seeing that one.

also saying "ok i get that the night's king can reanimate flesh magically but i dont get why they cant stand swimming in the ocean" is no way to approach this particular show.

not to hijack but since you posted that and this seems like the defacto tv thread, is anyone excited about an nc17 evil dead series?

To be fair, they are called white walkers, not white swimmers.
