Not accusing or anything, but there are simple setting to adjust the starting point on that number... like for instance if you set it to start at 50 and 3 people are browsing your site it will display 53 people browsing your site... Doesn't really matter to me but I assume you need to use the email you have listed in your account to get your password reset? Yeah it's just adjusting the code, you can google it and see tons of shit out there for doing it... in phpbb specifically.. I found it when I was trying to figure out how to reduce spammers

I found that despite the misleading message you can actually still login to dd. Then in Control Panel -> Profile -> Edit User Settings you can see your registered email.
