this is generally +EV. i will be heading to san diego to do the same either in winter or spring. one generally comes away from these trips with hundreds of pounds of yellowfin tuna meat, which more than covers the cost of the boat.
caveat: not loving the 'driving back to sacramento from san diego' option or the 'wow non-existent and definitely not man made global warming has decimated the anchovy spawns again so no one has fucking bait' aspects but i intend to soldier on somehow.
