A Frenchman who was kidnapped over the weekend in Algeria appears to have been beheaded in a video that was posted online Wednesday.
The video shows armed men beheading a man who appears to be Herve Gourdel -- a man who the French foreign ministry said was kidnapped Sunday in Algeria's Tizi-Ouzou region east of Algiers.
In the video, the armed men claim to belong to Islamist militant group Jund al-Khilafa -- or Soldiers of the Caliphate -- in Algeria, and pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

The only figure I can find is NYT saying 5500 total deaths since their military drive began in June. Total US homicides for the year is just under 13K, so probably more likely to be murdered by ISIS when wandering around Iraq than asking for directions in Compton. But, still close enough to not give a fuck what ISIS is doing in the sand.

That started a few weeks ago. The SAS, SEALs, and Delta Force put together an all star team called Task Force Black to hunt down ISIS's leadership.

There are less than 1000 guys in the whole SAS. Special forces groups are small. That's why 3 groups are teaming up for a big job.

Good call on that one Barry. Seems like that's exactly what they're doing. Pinpoint small team attacks to take out a few at a time.

SAS troops with sniper rifles and heavy machine guns have killed hundreds of Islamic State extremists in a series of deadly quad-bike ambushes inside Iraq, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
Defence sources indicated last night that soldiers from the elite fighting unit have eliminated ‘up to eight terrorists per day’ in the daring raids, carried out during the past four weeks.
Until now, it had been acknowledged only that the SAS was operating in a reconnaissance role in Iraq and was not involved in combat. But The Mail on Sunday has learned that small groups of soldiers are being dropped into IS territory in RAF Chinook helicopters – to take on the enemy.

Targets are identified by drones operated either from an SAS base or by the soldiers themselves on the ground, who use smaller devices.
The troops are also equipped with quad bikes – four-wheeled all-terrain vehicles that can have machine guns bolted on to a frame. They then seek out IS units and attack the terrorists using the element of surprise and under the cover of darkness.

Frontline is easily the most comprehensive, and well investigated series of documentaries being broadcast today

I like VICE don't get me wrong

but Frontline has such an accomplished body of work over the years, whereas VICE is basically an 'new' entity that tends to put a 'left wing spin on their stories

comparing VICE to Frontline is basically apples and oranges if you're looking at them side by side
