Anyone who feels it necessary to buy a "luxury" model or excessively powerful car has a tiny penis.

The most important part of owning an electric car, is telling everybody that you own an electric car.

I should get an electric car next if these gas prices in Michigan don't go down. Currently Michigan has the second highest average cost in the country even passed Alaska today and only trails Hawaii.

Could you imagine a Vegan with a newborn child and no TV in their home owning one? Insufferable.

Tesla Is Giving Away All Of Its Ideas For Free
The Huffington Post | By Alexander C. Kaufman
    06/12/2014 4:06 pm EDT

"Tesla is giving away its special sauce.

CEO Elon Musk pledged Thursday that the electric carmaker will not sue anyone who uses Tesla’s patented technology “in good faith,” in hopes of cultivating a bigger industry for rechargeable vehicles.

“If we clear a path to the creation of electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal,” Musk wrote in a blog post. “Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.”

At a shareholder meeting earlier this month, Musk had hinted that he planned to do something “fairly controversial” with the company’s patents.

The rock star entrepreneur, who also founded the private space transport company SpaceX, said he originally secured patents to prevent the auto industry goliaths from absorbing Tesla’s trade secrets and crushing the startup. However, Musk said, the big players don't seem all that interested in Tesla's work.

Disappointed by what he described as big car companies’ “small to non-existent” investments in electric cars, Musk said he is letting others use the patented ideas in order to foster some creativity among other entrepreneurs.

Tesla pioneered the electric car market with its luxury Model S. By allowing others to use Tesla's good ideas, including patents on the technology used to build its network of supercharger stations, Musk could create more options for consumers looking to make the switch to an electric car."

Elon Musk is a genius. He knows that if he can grow the electric vehicle sector, that there will be most customers for the Tesla-Panasonic battery "gigafactory". I hope they build that thing here. I want to go on a tour.

I've had my car for a year now and I still adore it. It hasn't had a single problem. And you really don't miss stopping at gas stations.

i was curious how you feel about your car after driving it for a few years

how has it held up? any early adopter remorse?

genuinely curious if you've had any problems with it, or do you like it as much as the day you bought it?

Quite frankly I think there is a much higher chance of religious people destroying the planet MUCH sooner than anything man is creating that harms the environment. Like Hawkins has said, our only chance is to get to other planets and hedge our bets.
Thank you for buying a UAW-made car!

When this thread was bumped I thought it was to take the piss out of this snafu

    http://www.troyhunt.com/2016/02/cont...of-nissan.html

    Cliffs:

The Nissan Leaf onboard computer can be remotely hacked; the hackers can then fuck about with some of the non-driving systems like the heating /AC.
    Nissan since shuttered the app

    Very odd bump.

I drove that Leaf for 3 and a half years and it was a really great car. It's designed to be a comfortable commuter car and it did that remarkably well. The only problem it ever had was limited range. It started off with about 92 miles on a charge and after 3 brutal Vegas summers parked in an outdoor lot all day, it got down below 50 miles. I knew that was going to happen, and the resale value was going to suck, which is why I leased the car. Based on the Kelly Blue Book price when I gave it back in January, Nissan lost about $6500 on my lease.

Electric cars are clearly the future. Their adoption over the next few years will depend on gas prices. If gas spikes over $4.50, there will be a big rush. The buttery smooth acceleration without gear changes is so nice, and the massive low end torque is great for real world driving. My next car is probably going to be a Chevy Bolt.
