I don't think it is a coincidence that middleweight is the weight where we see a 49 year old boxer dominating his weight class, as this is probably around the cutoff where you are big enough to compete in baseball/football/basketball/etc.. You can pretty much say the same thing with the Klitchko's dominating the heavyweight division. Heck, it is not too big a stretch to imagine an almost 50 year old Lennox Lewis still being on top if he had decided to keep fighting like Hopkins.

Anwyays, I think it is ok to postulate that boxing is severely watered down in the bigger weight divisions, which is why you can tell the talent pool and quality of boxing is so much higher in smaller weight classes.
I think Barry comes off as a know it all, even when it's something he knows very little about. But it changes nothing. His opinion on Hopkins seems like "oh, he's old and winning, everyone else must suck". Bernard Hopkins isn't your average 49 year old. And he's the only guy his age doing it.

And when it was Randy Cotoure, everyone was too busy sucking him off, to worry about his age.

Boxing for sure isn't what it was, but Hopkins is the only guy from his era that's even worth a shit anymore. Roy Jones Jr is washed. James Toney, too. It's speaks to how good Hopkins is, not how bad everyone else is.

He's just getting his name mentioned on ESPN. Every time they mention him buying the Clippers, they're almost certainly going to mention that he fights on Saturday.

I'd love to see Lara/Mayweather, after Lara beats Canelo. It'd be a snoozer for the casual fan, but I'd love it.
I hope you dont really think this. Those 2 have the most power/money in the sport and if they both really wanted to fight eachother it would happen regardless of anything.

Ill say it till im blue in the face MM would be stupid to fight him. He will keep fighting guys that are 11-1 dogs until he beats Marcianos record.

Its funny because whenever someone would say anything he would be like this guy is a tough fight for me. He knew he had to try and convince people of it so they buy the fight. He had to catch himself and others a few times on all access.

Pacquiao has very little say over his career. He's Bob Arum's boy. Guy literally makes no decision whatsoever. I don't think it's a Mayweather/Pacquiao thing. I never have. I 100% believe that it's a Mayweather/Arum thing. And I believe that Arum knows what the outcome would be, and that's why he doesn't want his boy in with Mayweather. When Mayweather was a Top Rank fighter, Arum would routinely say "I've been around them all, Floyd's the best I've ever seen". It wasn't until Floyd left Arum, that he started "ducking" Top Rank fighters. Arum has been robbing Pacquiao blind for some time now. I mean, 6 fight, $75 million contract? For the 2nd biggest name in boxing? That's absurd. Pacquiao brings in a LOT more than that.

Maidana isn't an 11/1 dog. Mayweather is 11/1 favorite. Maidana is 7/1. And he's only 7/1 against Mayweather. He'd be 4-1 against Pacquiao. It's not that Maidana is so bad, it's that Mayweather is so good. I mean, Canelo is a very high risk fight for ANYONE in boxing right now. He's considered a "cherry pick" for Mayweather. He's held to a pretty high standard (admittedly, he brings it on himself with all this "TBE" shit).

As unlikely as it is, it wouldn't break my heart to see Maidana knock him out. I like Maidana a lot. And I've always wanted to see how Mayweather would act in defeat. I think he would be surprisingly humble.

    Will this distract Mayweather?

Mayweather's Shocking Tweet: Girlfriend killed our twin babies

What are the odds of a Maidana K.O.?

That did seem a little out of character, even for Mayweather. He's all business in the ring. Should be fine. Maidana inside the distance is +1065.

Actually decent action here. My apologies.

Exactly the type of fight Maidana wants.

Maidana is closing distance and pinning Floyd up against the ropes better then I've seen before so far. The pace he is fighting at I'm not sure he can continue to do which he did do the same vs. Broner.

This kid has a lot of heart but also check this kids piss afterward imo.

I hate to say it but Maidana's huge weight advantage might be hurting Floyd.. Maidana's walk to the ring weight was 165 vs Floyd's still 146.

Hell this could be a draw.. Either way a rematch is basically a gimme between these two no matter what the outcome is.

Those 2 score cards are hinky..... Dunno how they could have it 8 to 4 rounds.. Just weird... The punch count based on rnds it was 6-6.. I can see it 7-5 but 8-4??? Nope..

    Rematch definitely happening imo.

Maidana was crushing in those early rounds but lost more in the later. I thought this fight was close and would have given the edge to Maidana because he controlled the fight with aggression and Mayweather really didn't do a whole lot which works in some fights but not against a guy who just keeps bringing this relentless aggression like Maidana.

Good, close fight. I thought Mayweather edged it, but only just. He landed the cleaner shots. Maidana was busier but he didn't land a whole lot. Scores were wide.

I'm not really sure how the 2 judges that had it for floyd had him out pointing the shit out of maidana.

The only way Maidana could have won the fight was by knockout.
No way judges from Nevada are going to give the fight to anyone but Mayweather.

Maidana should have tried harder for a knockout, instead he made a mistake that every single opponent of Mayweather has made, foolishly believing that he would win a decision in Las Vegas.

No need for a rematch, we know how this story ends.
Mayweather would be more focused and would win yet another decision.

As for Pacquiao, there is a good chance he won't re-sign with Arum.
Bob Arum really pissed MGM officials last time Pacquiao fought.
I doubt that the MGM would promote any more fights with Arum.
If Pacquiao is smart he will get rid of the bastard.
