The best part of this whole story is listening to Charles barkley opinion that his players should quit and he should be suspended. Yes the same Charles Barkley that openly said he doesnt like white people. His white wife must have been an exception.

I saw something funny on tv yesterday. They said blacks want race taken off of college applications. I agree with them 100%. They can stop getting scholarships because of the color of their skin. Sponsorships are already leaving the Clippers. This is how it begins. Their are so many ways to make to come back at him which start with financial choices these sponsors make and hopefully fans who go to the games will refuse to by refreshments,etc...

I can see people going who paid for seats or are just beloved fans of the team itself who lived through the struggles attending the games but it would be nice if they came in with a record amount of signs regarding this matter and boycott buying refreshments,etc...

These sponsorships are important with the banners in the stadium and elsewhere that pay big money for association to the team. A lot of times whenever one party does something to tarnish the others reputation they can just pull out. What if the local cable affiliate who covers Clippers games is able to say "Sterling needs to go otherwise we won't be airing these games on TV anymore". If they are in their rights to do this then nobody else is going to pickup this team and that money is so huge it's another way of forcing Sterling to sell the team before it loses way more value.

Regarding his behavior of not wanting to rent to blacks in Koreatown, that was probably more cold business practices than outright racism.

Koreans in LA don't like black people, and the black people in LA don't like the Koreans. This was made even worse by the LA riots in 1992.

Sterling probably (correctly) assumed that some Koreans would move out if blacks moved into his buildings, so he didn't want that.

I'm not saying it's right, and I agree that such a policy is racist, but I believe he did that more to pacify his existing Korean tenants than because he hated black people.

With that said, I do believe the guy is racist and a general sleazeball, but he seems to belong to the "the blacks and whites should be separate from one another" 1950s-type racism, rather than "I hate blacks and wish they were all sent back to Africa" kind of racism that is prevalent among white supremacists and other hardcore hate groups.

The fact that he's married (something I didn't realize when this story first broke) is also being glossed over, and is also pretty bad. It's one thing for an old, rich bastard to take a young trophy girlfriend (like James Woods), but another altogether to publicly attend basketball games with your gold-digger girlfriend 50 years your junior, while your wife has to stand by and take it. What an asshole.

He's also a terrible sports owner. The Clippers were so awful for so long because he was ridiculously cheap. He realized that a certain subset of Los Angeles area NBA fans hated the Lakers, and would attend Clippers games regardless of how terrible the team was. Clippers games also were much cheaper than Lakers games, so he also attracted the demographic of people who couldn't afford Lakers games.

Basically, the guy realized that you can run a highly profitable NBA team by just keeping a ridiculously low payroll, so that's what he did.

They also played in a HORRIBLE stadium (the LA Sports Arena) for many years, until Staples Center was built. Sterling was frequently criticized for not caring about the dilapidated nature of the Sports Arena.
