Apparently, they violated copyrights by removing script that would have shown that they used open source freeware to build the website. All that money spent and the company couldn't even write their own script or at least acknowledge the software that they were using.

Healthcare.gov, the federal government's Obamacare website, has been under heavy criticism from friend and foe alike during its first two weeks of open enrollment. Repeated errors and delays have prevented many users from even establishing an account, and outside web designers have roundly panned the structure and coding of the site as amateurish and sloppy. The latest indication of the haphazard way in which Healthcare.gov was developed is the uncredited use of a copyrighted web script for a data function used by the site, a violation of the licensing agreement for the software.

The script in question is called DataTables, a very long and complex piece of website software used for formatting and presenting data. DataTables was developed by a British company called SpryMedia which licenses the open-source software freely to anyone who complies with the licensing agreement. A note at the bottom of the DataTables.net website says: "DataTables designed and created by SpryMedia © 2008-2013." The company explains the license for using the software on that website [emphasis added]:

DataTables is free, open source software that you can download and use for whatever purpose you wish, on any and as many sites you want. It is free for you to use! DataTables is available under two licenses: GPL v2 license or a BSD (3-point) license, with which you must comply (to do this, basically keep the copyright notices in the software).

Obama says that, though the website is a complete fail, "the product is good" so we shouldn't worry.

Oh, and the new health care starts January 1st, so he feels there's no reason to act concerned on October 21 that you still can't access the site to purchase one of life's major necessities.

Still waiting for an answer as to why they aren't doing an emergency restructuring of the site to allow people to at least get necessary information without actually going through the signup/info entering process.

Oh, I forgot.. it's because Obama doesn't want you to see how much it costs everyone.

I haven't tried to log back on the site but seriously how in the hell does it have that many issues? If it's a traffic thing then they need to hire some competent people to do this. Sites like Google, Facebook, and Yahoo rarely ever lag in this day in age so why should a government site not getting near the traffic those sites are lags is beyond me? Their is no excuse for it.

Regarding the prices from something I saw as a 33 year old about to turn 34 on Thursday the prices that I seen really weren't to die for and actually about the same as what I'm paying with Aetna for my own plan right now as it is. I'm not sure about tax credits but these plans are not as "affordable" as Obama keeps claiming to a bunch of people who are working starter jobs flipping burgers or having families where they can't insure everyone.

Obamacare will double my monthly premium (according to Kaiser)

My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don't go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.

Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife's rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.

I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any fucking penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?

My Kaiser rates are going down 5%. The couple in the article had the cheapest plans possible.

I am very lucky my wife works for United Technologies, we get the Cadillac plan every year (because I can afford it) and it goes up 5-10% every year even tho U.T. switches insurance carriers if necessary to get the best rates, cant blame that on Obamacare but I feel bad for the people that will be affected, they will take the penalty if they have to, nobody in America should be denied emergency room treatment due to lack of funds

The cheapest plan possible from the (usually) most affordable company just doubled. This is only the beginning.

Impossible to argue that high deductible plans won't get more expensive under Obamacare, when they should be utilized to lower costs by empowering consumers to shop around and keep more of their money.

I'd rather pay $125 to go to the doctor for the 0-2 visits I might make in a year, rather than an extra $125/mo. to have "1 annual visit" include in my plan.

You insure the big things. You pay the small things out of pocket. Giving the same insurers more money isn't going to do anything to help our health care problems.

HHS chief: President didn't know of Obamacare website woes beforehand

    By Greg Botelho, CNN
updated 8:35 PM EDT, Tue October 22, 2013

In an exclusive interview with CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Tuesday that there is significant concern in her department and the White House over the technical debacle surrounding the Obamacare website's rollout. The site was supposed to make it simple for people to search and sign-up for new health care policies starting on October 1, but instead it's been clunky and, at times, inoperable.
"We're not at all satisfied with the workings of the website," Sebelius said. "We want it to be smooth and easy and let consumers' compare plans."

can some one please post the video, lol they needed 5 years to build the website

Almost for sure she had someone in the family with pre-existing conditions paired with NY rates being insane.

I am paying $156 a month for a $1700 deductible and $3000 out of pocket max.

Cheapest plan, that is similar in deductible and out of pocket max was $246 on Healthcare.gov.

My boss had a 5000 deductible HSA plan for a family of five, and was paying $700 a month. Similar level of coverage $1400 a month on healthcare.gov.

Luckily both of our plans are grandfathered in until Dec 2014, then we will have to figure out what to do.

Anyone that is young, under 40, and healthy is going to get fucked by Obamacare.

Anyone that is low income, has pre-existing conditions or is older is going to love Obamacare.

They need seven million new insured individuals to make Obamacare to work. I think there is no chance they get that number, they might get seven million but not seven million new insured individuals. Fining people is going to be hilarious, people are going to flip shit.

what Gorman said ^^^^^^^ and do you think the government people that are forcing you to buy health insurance or pay a fine are signing up HELL NO

Sebelius: I'm Not Signing Up for Obamacare

    October 23, 2013 - 7:25 AM

("CNSNews.com) - In an interview with CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta Tuesday night, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she won't be enrolling in the problem-plagued health insurance system that she was charged to implement.

"I have created an account on the site. I have not tried signing up, because I have insurance," she told Gupta."

another news flash: there is a disclaimer right on the Obamacare website that HHS is sharing your personal, medical and financial information with the IRS, Homeland Security and whatever other government agency that wants your info, to fuk with you

It's a sad day when a site ran by Bryan Micon is more stable then one ran by the government.
