Johnathan Papelbon wants out of the Phillies, unless they blow up the team

No, I would like to stay here. But if I'm going to have to put up with this year after year, then no, I don't want to be here. Why would you? Why would anybody?
Ironically now he kinda wants back on the Red Sox, since they let go of their expensive players (himself included) and are now successful.

The Phillies are plagued heavily with injuries and are playing like dog shit right now. The Tigers scored 8 runs on them in the sixth inning yesterday on only two hits which tells you your pitchers can't find the strike zone and fielding was atrocious as well.

This is something the Phillies have not had to deal with for a long time now losing and I can see Papelbon frustration but he's had it easy mostly playing for winning teams while several quality players don't have that luxury all throughout their careers.

A lot of teams are looking at him including Boston so their is a good chance he gets traded before the deadline.

The Red Sox hold on first is temporary. Starting pitching wins. Rays prove that.

Red Sox ace ,Clay Buchholz 9-0, is down for the count. Tremendous athlete. Teammates in previous years often claimed he was the best athlete on the team. However, he is not built for the long haul.

Red Sox let Papelbon walk and replaced him with 2 relievers who are not active. Doubtful, they will "man up" here and admit the mistake.

Dustin Pedroia signed $100M contract that takes him through age 38. Kind of deal like that has prolly got the Dodgers on the phone to the Sox again. He would be maybe the 3rd best hitter though on the Dodgers.

What was cool about this new contract is it really was payback for the cheap contract Pedroia accepted during his prime. Rare thing in sports. Sounds like Brady's cheap deal - he'll never recover the lost money unless Kraft gave him some private interest or future points or interest in the Gillette megapolis.

It remains to be seen whose contract will go down as the biggest bust in MLB history between ARod or Pujols who is now out for the season.

The Cardinals must be happy as hell they didn't re-sign Pujols while the Angels probably wondering wtf they were thinking giving him as lengthy of contract as they did at his age.

    Okay, I'll play a hand...

Carl Crawford Red Sox / Dodgers, 6years 128million. Has he ever even suited up in a Dodger uniform? He will never see the Dodger outfield. Zero value. None.

ARod & Pujols have contributed something to their teams.

Fair enough! Crawford was another bust contract.

ARod did contribute a little early on in his contract while Pujols numbers have gone down since signing a contract that made no sense to give a guy who was I believe 31 at the time even if he was one of the top two hitters in the league.

Both them guys had longer contracts then Crawford so no matter how you look at it a lot of dead money shelled out from ball clubs because they must lock these guys up for longer then they need to.

If I were the Angels or the Yankees - or any team with a troublesome deal - I would praise Allah for the renewed PED issue and suspension guidelines.

You think Pujols can withstand any PED related heat? You think the Yankees management aren't high-fiving each other?

Angels plant a story, do some digging, maybe even put the stuff in his airline meal. Problem solved. Hit or we snuff you & your contract out. You just lost your LA privileges.

Virtually, none of the big dollar guys could take the heat. Perform up to your contract or you are going down hard (Vernon Wells).

With everyone healthy (excluding Halladay) the Phillies were a mediocre, extremely inconsistent team clinging to a .500 record with a bullpen that could hardly ever hold a lead.

That was before all the injuries.

To say they are now decimated by injuries would be an understatement. It's insane how beat up they are. I was still clinging to some hope until Ben Revere went down. After that I knew it was lights out.

That said, Papelbon is going nowhere. It would have to be an insane offer to get him and I doubt there are teams out there are willing to part with what the Phillies would want. Whatever team wants him better have a ridiculously good prospect that can be a closer in the very near future to offer up, otherwise there is no chance.

I expect Michael Young to be gone, and more than likely Carlos Ruiz.

Never underestimate the Dodgers eagerness to light dollar bills on fire.

You have to be referring to Papelbon & the Red Sox.
