FBI previously talked to older Boston suspect

The Federal Bureau of Investigation interviewed one of the suspects the Boston Marathon bombings two years ago about his ties to extremist groups, POLITICO has confirmed.

The FBI said the interview of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the older brother, came at the request of a foreign government. The FBI found nothing “derogatory.” Police took into custody the younger brother and suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, after a stand-off in Watertown, Mass., on Friday night. He was sent to the hospital. Tamerlan Tsarnaev died early Friday morning following a shootout with police.

Their father, Anzor Tsarnaev, told the Wall Street Journal that he was with Tamerlan Tsarnaev during the FBI interview, which he said took place in Cambridge.

“They said: We know what sites you are on, we know where you are calling, we know everything about you. Everything,” he told the Journal. “They said we are checking and watching—that’s what they said.”

But Anzor Tsarnaev said he was confident in his children, despite the FBI’s interest.

“I knew what he was doing, where he was going. I raised my children right,” he said in the interview.

In an interview on Friday on CNN, the suspects’ mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, also said the FBI had been keeping tabs on her son.

“Tamerlan was counseled by FBI for three, five years,” she said. “They knew what my son was doing. They knew what actions and what sites on the Internet he was going. How could this happen? How could they — they were following every step of him and they’re telling today this is a terrorist act.”

Apparently under a directive from the Obama administration, FBI is not allowed to ask someone any appropriate questions like if they had or ever been involved in terrorist activity while overseas...

Yeah, but lets just ignore this and go back to worrying about the presidents fucking bracket picks and what kind of food he likes to eat and shit!

    Here's your sign

Answer me this one: If he was on the FBI's radar, at the request of even a foreign government for terrorist related suspicions for so long, then why was he allowed, with his fucking green card, to travel to Russia for 6 months and fucking return to the US unimpeded... unquestioned...unsurveilled? A 6 month trip for a green card holder to anywhere in the world comes under scrutiny upon their return? Why not this guy?

Russian security services requested he be interviewed. This is not at all like a domestic security investigation where the FBI has cause, an evidentiary trail, and an internally generated analysis.

Im not saying its a non-issue, Im saying its easy to misinterpret this as a 'dropped ball' by the FBI, who probably saw no domestic threat potential in him at all due to a total lack of evidence of such.

I will agree that it is sometimes easy to play monday morning quarterback on issues like this (just as many people tried to critique and criticize GW after 9/11.) I realize they have a tremendously difficult job to do, where they have to be right 100% of the time, while a terrorist only has to be right once.

Maybe I misinterpreted the story, but they made it sound like in the story (according to the father who was present) that they were already examining sites he has been on and who he was talking to- leading me to think that they had at least 'some' eyebrow raising info, but I guess it could also have just as easily been an interrogation tactic to get him to spill the beans. When I combine that with the fact that they already received a foreign warning regarding him, I guess I am still wondering why he wasn't being watched more than he was.

As for the part you quoted me regarding Obama directives, I heard this from one of the news stations while flipping through channels - im not sure which one though. A little reckless on my part to take a quote like that without linking a source- especially when getting info from the MSM. I'll link if I can find something. Either way, due to Obama's nature to be careful not to offend anyone, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this were true

The thing is how do you realistically plea with any terrorist? They are individuals with zero rationale and willing to die to carry out their mission. Do you think this guy wants to live now? No! He's already cost the country a few hundred million dollars and now they will spend millions more to prosecute him to what will ultimately lead him to the death penalty which he was willing to die so how does that punish him? You'd be better off leaving him in solitary confinement as that punishment is suffering compared to death.

In certain circumstances like this I wish if they are going to give someone the death penalty it would be a slow and painful way which is against our justice system but this guy gets off too easy with any methods of so called "justice" they will carry out on him.

I'm going to bet on the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox who both had games cancelled yesterday and are playing at home today. Their players will be motivated by this tragedy and play their hearts out along with great fan support.

everyone is in a pretty emotional place right now so dont feel like im jumping on you or anything. its just important to look for the facts. like, that obama quote is some serious rush limbaugh grade hilarity, as is the implied assertion that obama and his cabinet establish interrogation baselines.

and honestly if these kids arent emailing al qaeda, posting jihadisms, or sending / receiving money to madrasses, what do you have?

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, killed in a shootout with MIT police Thursday night, the so-called “Black hat” suspect, was a a Golden Gloves boxer who studied at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston and wanted to become an engineer.

Tamerlan left Chechnya with his family in the early 90s, and lived for years in Kazakhstan before being welcomed into the U.S. as a refugee.
It may seem outlandish, but Borat came out in 2006 and he was supposed to be from Kazakhstan. The country was completely misrepresented and insulted, and so many Americans were and are ignorant to the reality that it was fake and such complete fiction. Since he was 26, and moved there in the 90s, he had to be at the oldest, in his adolescence when he relocated there, and must have come to identify with Kazakhstan as his homeland. How much of his radicalization has to do with the derision he suffered due to this movie? Did 'Borat' create these terrorists?

I remember this slap to the face of Kazakhstan just last year: http://digitaljournal.com/article/321709

And, ok fatboy. Sorry for insulting your beloved FckVwls. You jumping on BadGuy in a contained thread was bad enough, her dick riding you and that topic for some attention and approval was even worse. Have some mercy on the poor bastard, and some empathy. Horrible stuff.

    Edit: found something on it
    http://deadspin.com/heres-everything...-the-476415081

Tamerlan says he loves the movie "Borat," even though some of the jokes are a bit too much.
    and then he also says:

If he wins enough fights there, Tamerlan says he could be selected for the US Olympic team and be naturalized American. Unless his native Chechnya becomes independent, Tamerlan says he would rather compete for the United States than for Russia.
Pretty sure this was just some bullshit he was saying so that he sounded like a good natured and adjusted American.

Oh, ok. The being a dick to the random poster thing you do. Yeah, I've seen that before. Good for you.

Real talk, do you take meds or see a therapist? Have you ever considered it?

We can continue further discussion on this privately if you want by the way, I'm done with this in this thread. Go ahead and respond with something randomly insulting and it'll drop from there.

you can be stupid and wrong or you can be belligerent. but if youre going to be belligerently stupid and wrong, people like me are going to stomp you so hard you turn to wine.

its good that you learned this lesson today, its frustrating that youre going to sit here and pretend you didnt for another few weeks until you feel like you can stop shitposting without anyone connecting it to the day your ego got touched in front of the closest thing to friends you have.

    also, cry harder faggot random.
