WHY IS THIS SHIT PART OF THE TESTIMONY?

This should be considered irrelevant to the case and never part of a defense.

Unless the victim was committing illegal sexual acts (bestiality, child molestation, unwanted spousal rape, etc), it should not matter at ALL what the victim found "hot", even if some of it was weird.

You would be hard pressed to find any adult male that doesn't have some sexual desire that is slightly out of the mainstream.

If you don't like your husband or boyfriend's sexual fetishes, there is an easy solution -- leave him. These are not ever justification for any sort of violence.

I can actually have sympathy for the battered woman who snaps and shoots her husband after years of physical abuse, even if not in direct self defense. I'm not saying that should be excused, but I can understand it. I can see it being used as a mitigating factor to consider during sentencing and to downgrade a first-degree murder charge. However, sexual desires should NOT be admissible in situations like this. It will also open up a huge can of worms to where basically any woman can fish out something "perverted" her husband said/did, and then use it as an excuse for killing him, claiming "sexual abuse".

Terrible.

She's trying to save her life. Completely understandable but I don't see how they are going to work any of this in as self-defense. She's going to have to flat out say that he attacked her the day that she killed him. Apparently the jury is starting to show signs of her testimony being a bit much. Who knows maybe they aren't so dumb after all.

Will be nice to see how composed she is during cross examination.

On Monday, she described an encounter with Alexander in May 2007, about a year before his death, when she was sleeping in his bed and awoke to find him having sexual intercourse with her.

"He was on top of me, and had already penetrated and started having sex with me," Arias said.

She said she didn't tell him to stop but the sex made her uncomfortable because she felt it violated the teachings of the Mormon church, which discourages sex before marriage.

Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi asked why she felt the sex while she slept was OK.

"I felt like I was partially responsible because I went to sleep next to him. I was wearing a T-shirt, cute shorts," Arias said. "I just felt like being in his bed, sleeping there, it wasn't entirely his fault, like maybe it was invited."

Just catching up on this as I have been pretty busy the past week. Heard sextape today, and caught her versions of the mild abuse that she says he inflicted, and the boys in underwear nonsense(which seems totally retarded if made up).

My thoughts. If she made up the boys in underwear story, it seems like it would have been way more convincing to make it young girls, as it would coincide with his comments on sex tape. It doesn't feel like a true story, but it's a head-scratcher to make up. You know you have him on tape telling her that she sounded hot, and like a 12 year old girl. Why not lie in a way that goes along with that angle? Both are deviant behaviors.

If I am defending her, at this point, I think I have to make a closing statement/steer the case in a direction in which you implicate her for essentially blackmailing him. I don't think anyone is going to believe that he posed a true threat to her from these small supposed skirmishes. The only way he goes truly apeshit crazy is if she claims that she said something along the lines of ," You have been using me. Call that other bitch up and tell her you're taking me to Cancun or I am going to play your little tapes for all your Mormon friends." You argue she resorted to self-defense because she misjudged how badly that would anger him, and she bit off more than she could chew.

For a fake Mormon like himself living a duplicitous lifestyle, who is arrogant by his own friends description, I think you *might* convince someone that something like that was enough to make him snap. The kid was all about self-image and keeping up appearances. To claim that he snapped over dropping his camera, or something else won't be believed. I think at this point there are plenty of jurors who don't particularly like Travis and view him as stringing along an unstable girl for sex, but being a douche isn't a reason to kill someone. They need to present a plausible snapping scenario, and being exposed seems the most plausible reason that he might snap.

She's obviously guilty as fuck, and the gun, and the fact that he's in the shower make it impossible to believe that he chose that particular moment to go apeshit and attack her. But if you spin the story into one where she knew she was going to blackmail him into taking her on the trip, you can say she took the gun in case it went south, and that she chose when he was in the shower to spring it on him because it would be when he was most vulnerable.

People are stupid, and I think that's the only scenario where you could spin him into showering one moment, and going crazy the next, and explain why you had a gun that you stole from grandpa. Hailmary, but better than what they are currently presenting imo. As is stands, I can't see any of them viewing her as battered. Used, but not needing to use self-defense. I have been following this case since it first began and nothing about this ceases to amaze me. The private pictures that have surfaced of Jodi and the pictures of the crime scene are both very disturbing. In a case like this I find it very irresponsible that given all the facts in this case that people are more concerned about what Jodis breasts and vaginal area look like. I am a man who holds true values and a strong faith in the lord and the last thing on my mind was criticizing her body parts. Testifying in a generally calm tone with moments of emotion and tears, Arias said under direct examination by her defense attorney that an argument about Alexander's camera sparked a fight that resulted in his death. She said that Alexander became enraged and body slammed her to the floor because she had dropped his camera while taking pictures of him the shower.

"It was like mortal terror. I pissed him off the worst I'd ever seen him pissed off," Arias said.

She said she ran to a nearby closet to escape Alexander. "I was scared ... He's freaking out. I'm freaking out ... I could hear his footsteps chasing me. I didn't want him to grab me again," she said.

Arias said she took a gun Alexander had in his closet so that she could protect herself. "He ran chasing me. I turned around and pointed it at him so he would stop chasing me," she said.

"I thought [pointing the gun at him] would stop him," Arias continued.. "He grabbed my waist. The gun went off. I did not mean to shoot him or anything. ... I didn't even know I shot him."
