For example, in the Rob Reiner thread (which is an interesting and current topic), desertrunner made a statement he thought was true (that Reiner had stated he was happy Trump was shot), and upon being called out on it, desertrunner changed it to stating that he THOUGHT Rob Reiner was probably happy Trump got shot, which of course is a very different thing.

I actually said neither of these things and sometimes Druff does get the story specifics wrong, I noticed that lately. I said specifically- "Reiner cheered on" in referance to Trump being shot. I came back and clarified that I did NOT say cheered "physically" or "posted online", I said it in general speak based on past online observations. And mainly because I really dont care enough about this story to really to get into it or debate it, I just dont care enough. The resident liberal thought this was a "catch a moment" and it really wasnt, really because I dont care enough about the topic. I gave my opinion based on past observations and if that's not good enough, then I will play the standard PFA card of- "because I say so" and that's good enough to stand on.

I don't mind people calling out desertrunner for this, and bashing him for it, because indeed he should have just said "Oops my mistake, I guess Reiner never said that", and move on. I have made similar mistakes in the past, where I believe I saw something online, but in fact I either misread it or simply read ABOUT it without ever verifying it was true. That can happen. The difference is that I'll admit it when shown evidence that I was incorrect, whereas desertrunner seems to be allergic to doing so.

Not at all, I did NOT make a mistake. I vagly remember the RR comments about Trump over time and commented on it as I remembered it. But again, the resident liberals thought this was a gotcha because I didnt post the exact evidence and I dont have to "because I say so" is good enough here. Druff got this one wrong and I have never seen Druff correct himself here and admit to making a mistake. Druff is still one of my best friends, but I call it like I see it, non-emotional.

If you want to give him a hard time for that, go right ahead. If you want to make nasty remarks to him for having done this, go right ahead.

Go right ahead, I really dont care enough about the topic to argue it.

However, once the thread degenerates into just unrelated trolling of him, then it becomes shit because that takes away the entire focus of what was being discussed. And that's what I don't want.

This is weekly on every topic and nothing gets done about it. This was what The Boz was trying to show us.

I'm not doing this to protect desertrunner, by the way. If he posts stupid shit, by all means he should take his lumps for it, as should anyone here when they post dumb things, including me. Just don't fuck up good threads because you want to troll him.

Nothing will change and things will stay the same.
