There was a kid I went to school with. He was a pitcher for the high school baseball team. Completely owned heads of the local high school opponents, and had an excellent ERA, plus was also the best hitter on the team. Did he become the 1990s version of Shohei Ohtani?

No. He got drafted by the Yankees, and couldn't make it past Single A ball. Compared to local kids playing baseball because they were mildly good at it, he crushed. Compared to even other minor league baseball players, he was mediocre, and that was that.

As I said before, Bubs will have a major size disadvantage, even if by some miracle he skates well and shows some hockey talent. There's a gigantic difference between being a good skater for a 6-year-old and being NHL material.

BTW Chrissy, I have personal experience with this. I was the best soccer goalie in the city (in my age group) in 1979 and 1980. I allowed one goal in those two years combined.

Do you think I became a top pro soccer player? I'll let you take a guess.

I told my son to play baseball until they told him he sucked, which was D-3 college. He did it because he enjoyed being a member of a team. It was good for his personal development. 99% of the kids out there have zero shot at the pros.

Slight disagree, one version of Chrissy's origin story is that he was a bad ass highschool wrestler [so bad ass he sucker punched his father, the military vet] AND had a scholarship to a college [fairly sure about the scholarship part].

So while it was amateur wrestling, he technically had the concept of what was required to be a "pro" athlete, till he gave it all away to make easy money pulling his pud.
