If Boz and Ftpjesus don't have 8 threads on the front page, this won't affect them at all.

I actually don't care who finds it objectionable. My vision for the site was never to have any one user dominate the place. Having more than 16% of the threads on the front page is dominating, in my book. I should have done this a long time ago.

I don't think you'll be able to make the case that you (or anyone) should have the right to occupy more than 16% of the front page. I have been very clear about not wanting that since I opened this site in early 2012.

What you also might not understand is the fact that this community does not want or need someone to come in and change things up. People here enjoy the general tone, pace, and quality of posts here. That's why they keep returning, even though forums are mostly obsolete in 2025. I know you believe that you're injecting life into the forum, and that you're improving things, but all you're doing is coming into a longtime space and telling the regulars how things need to be. That never goes over well, no matter what the setting.

The fact that other conservatives (such as 1dollarboxcar and Tellafriend) have turned against you should show you that it's not just political.

This community and its happiness is important to me, hence the reason I continue to run this forum despite the fact that it's often been a hassle and provides me little-to-no upside in poker or financially.

I will admit that I have not been keeping track of sonatine and Tellafriend's presence on the front page, but as of yesterday, you had 14 threads, and they each had 5. That's a pretty big gap.

Notice that I changed this for EVERYONE, not just you. So if you're correct that sonatine and Tellafriend also dominate the front page, they soon won't, as they will be subject to the same restriction, as will the entire userbase.

To be honest, though, I don't think anyone besides you has had more than 8 threads on the front page typically, aside from maybe limitles when he's drunk. Even I only have 6 threads at the moment on the front page (not counting the stickied ones about system matters), and I own the damn place.

Regarding whether members have left, sure, some have. But that's the nature of running a forum, especially in the age of Reddit/X/Facebook/Instagram which have basically destroyed forums.

Even before those social media sites, forums would always lose members, for a variety of reasons. Often the users simply get tired of forums, or develop other interests, or have life changes which pull them away.

I have not had a single user tell me that he was leaving because of the "liberals" here. You've cited snowtracks before, but he never told me this, and even if true, he was mostly a radio listener and an infrequent poster anyway.

I can tell you that the anti-desertrunner crowd is much larger here than the pro-desertrunner crowd. I'm never a guy who lets the masses tell me what to do, but at the same time, when most of the users here feel you're overwhelming, and the raw numbers verify this, what should I do?
