I disagree. It’s a high percentage play vs the swing and hope strategy so popular with the Dodgers. Mookie countered by calling the wheel play and won that chess match.

Wonder if old man Rojas is out now.

I think the Dodgers know what you refuse to internalize. First inning Kershaw is a 7+ ERA. He is a slow starter. He is the last profile you want trotting out of the pen unless you’re up by 7 and want to save good arms

Kershaw pulls a Treinen and Ellen has to home school the kids for a year or two.

They've still got a 45% chance to score with the man on second, nobody out, without the bunting. If the bunt could be guaranteed to work, it would be a smart play to give up the out and move the guy to third, but it's going to fail enough times (like this one) to where I don't like it. The downside is too much. Keep in mind that if you swing away and hit a deep fly to CF or RF, the runner is moving to third anyway.

Bader got a hit after the failed bunt, which would've tied the game if there were a runner still on 2nd.

My nerd transgression is baseball cards. I paid up some real money for a chourio auto Bowman 1st refractor. Lot of people don't realize he is younger than Kurtz, Roman, Wilson, Baldwin, Skenes and all the other "young stars". Hes got back to back 20/20 years as a 21 year old in the show.

Kids got MVP written all over him in the years to come.

It’s absolutely not a high percentage play specifically with Castellanos running. Did you see how fucking slow he was on that replay? I get they didn’t have any position players to pinch run with there since Bader literally can’t run right now but could they have not put in a pitcher to pinch run? The Braves have used Fried as a pinch runner before in the playoffs. Literally anyone on their entire roster could’ve been better as a runner there.

But that’s all the more reason why you don’t bunt especially after showing on the first pitch.

Also as a Braves fan I hate both of these teams and I had zero dollars on this game so I’m not coming from this with any bias or vested interest.

Castellanos should’ve had a better secondary lead with Mookie so far off. That would have negated some of Catellanos poor foot speed and made the play closer. If he had and if the Dodgers didn’t execute as beautifully as they did Phillies win. There are no words to describe Muncy to Mookie etc. Athletes.

Against another team that play with Catellanos taking the proper lead works. Again, I bet Dodgers so I’m completely objective here.

I still think Phillies called the right play but they got “outplayed” by the Dodgers. Just beautiful baseball. Parenthetically, the Dodgers have a very casual attitude organizationally toward defense and you know given the “Wheel of Fortune” approach to who plays what position that defensive play was never practiced. Mookie is a god and his teammate Muncy had ZERO doubt he’d be there. The Dodgers buy the best athletes and it showed on that play. Who needs practice? Just roll the ball out

That casual Dodger defensive approach was demonstrated by the second baseman du jour, Edman, spiking the ball to Freeman on the last out. Edman literally forgot where he was. Phillies almost got another game winning gift. A true second baseman has muscle memory and no brain required on that play.

For you guys who are into EV. I just noticed Dodgers are -181 ML for the next game but if you bet exact series outcome 3-0 it’s offered at -165.

You would have to admit, though, MVP might be a stretch as long as he is in the same league as Shohei
