So I’m getting accused of ignoring the issue and being pro Vegas. Nothing is further from the truth, I go 25% of as much as I used to for multiple reasons. And YES, in many cases the pricing is out of control, especially on food and drinks. But I still argue values are there if you look and are less selective. And it’s still a bargain compared to most tourist attractions in the US. Check out rooms on the Jersey shore, Miami, NOLA, San Francisco, anywhere honestly and compare them to Vegas.

My issue is still the grifting and bandwagon jumping by bloggers and the news reporting on the story. Videos with bullshit titles like “Where is everyone” and “Why is Vegas empty” are pure clickbait and I would think the posters here would see right through them.

6% down is nothing the average person on the Strip would notice. Look at a football or baseball game. Do you notice 3000 empty seats in a 50,000 seat stadium or do you see the 47,000 fans? The average day on the Vegas strip sees over 107,000 visitors with weekends much higher.

Look, we all want the old Vegas back but it isn’t happening and as I said before, this happens every decade. Hell, most of us now would love to see 2015 Vegas back. And in 2015 we all complained that 2005 was much better, and on and on. Life goes on.

Boz- I agree with you, but I just want to rub it in the faces of the moronic CEOs who have to ruin it because of their self-entitled creed.

This reports that tourism is down 40%

Downtown bartender says there are no foreigners in her bar anymore, and prices are too high.

Which month and how much do you want to wager on a 40% decrease in passengers through LAS?

    Didn’t think so.

At this point you seem to be getting off on this news as much as Sonatine does on any negative financial rumors.

Again I thought you were smart enough to not fall for this clickbait. My mistake . By the way, I didn’t watch the video, the title alone tells me it’s another joker trolling for dollars and clicks. And I ain’t giving to this clown.

But, but, but you posted an ass clown video saying 40% down.

And I thought it was 6.4%?

Which is it? Do we need to wait for the next scammer you fall for to find out the real number?

I think the 6.4% was for May 25 vs May 24. The 11.3% is for June 25 vs June 24.
Not sure what the 40% was for, but you are welcome to review that video.

In the case of Vegas, even if Trump is at fault (which is not entirely true), it's a good thing.

Vegas has been abusing the tourist for a long time, and it's good to see enough struggles to where a reset might occur. Up until recently, the attitude in Vegas has been, "Sure, we are charging high room prices, degrading comps, degrading odds on the games, nickel-and-diming, and charging insane prices for food, but we're still filling up and making more money than ever! Why should we change?"

Now that things are slipping, they're going to be forced by the market to change. Very good for the average Vegas traveler. This will take some time to transform, but I see it coming.

So let’s dig into the Fox numbers a little more.

“ The latest statistics from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) show that only 3.1 million people visited in June, which is down 11.3% compared to last year.

The hotel industry is feeling the burn of fewer visitors, with occupancy dropping 6.5% while average daily room rates have lowered to $163.64 – down 6.6%, according to the LVCVA.'

Even the Harry Reid Airport has shown a decline, dropping 4.1% in year-to-date decline compared to the same time last year, according to the website”

So “visitation” is down 11.3%, not going to argue the figure. BUT hotel occupancy is down 6.5%, so where did the other 5% stay last year? 2nd homes they own? AirB&shitholes? Tunnels under the streets? Locals were filling the rooms last year but not this year!

And LAS (won’t call it HRA) is down 4.1%. You can say the SoCal visitors aren’t coming, which is certainly possible, but again where did they stay last year?

Bottom line is these numbers don’t make sense and actually aren’t Fox’s, but them pulling nonsense off the web looking for a story without much follow up or verification.

Meanwhile I’m still looking for an answer to how much Dime Bag Dave wants to bet on his 40% decline post he made a few days ago. Even Sonatine isn’t stupid enough while trolling to post nonsense like that.

Hey. You seem to get worked up about this. No interest in wagers. If you have issues with the 40% thing, take it up with DanVsWorld.

I dont see how this is a Trump issue. I would blame the Biden Admin because they raised the taxes on essential things to pay for their liberal agenda like hotels for illegals hotel rooms and flights, etc. The main culprit I look at is the rising costs in diesel tax to do this. The resort fees and extras were happening long before 7 months ago when Trump took office. And the main kill I have addressed- the hotel/casinos CEO's, they feel they need to get their entitled fat bonuses and bloated salaries in so they can move on to retirement. They dont even have to do a good job, they just use their power in position to fill their pockets.

The greedy CEOs are whats driving this. Add in the CA indian casinos steeling the customer base.

Now, say I became the CEO today of a hotel/casino company. The first thing I would is remove my year end bonus, remove resort fees and all of the other silly fees and then advertise the hell out of my offers. Once I get my customer base back and have a steady and healthy business, only then can I justify an large tear end bonus. But WHY do all of this, at this point in time, I dont have a choice as CEO as we are currently struggling.

You share a nonsensical video you either call it out or are endorsing it. Or just trolling.

Not sure what your gimmick is here. But the good news is beers are still $1 a bottle at Stage Door and any dive bar lover can appreciate that.

Blaming Trump for the lack of visits to Vegas is focusing the anger in the wrong place.

Take the WSOP for example. They keep making stupid mistakes and decisions which piss off the poker community. This year was no exception. Does this affect attendance? No. Why? Because it's still the premier poker tournament series, and overall everyone enjoys it, so they tolerate the fail and keep coming back. (On a side note, I will say that the WSOP+ app was awesome and made the series far more enjoyable when it comes to registration.)

Take you favorite sports team. They will make stupid decisions, on and off the field. They overcharge for parking and food. Employees at the stadium/arena are often disrespectful. Watching all the games on TV or streaming can sometimes be difficult or impossible. Do you quit being a fan? No, because you love the team too much to want to give it up.

I do believe some foreigners stayed away from Vegas due to anger at Trump. But then you have to ask yourself WHY these people stayed away. How could one American politician cause them to give up something they love so much?

It's because they didn't love it anymore. They were tolerating the nickel-and-diming, hidden fees, parking charges, expensive food, de-theming, and highly marked up shows and activities. They were reluctantly dealing with the degraded video poker, degraded slot returns, and bad table game rules/payouts. Even those who didn't understand the odds changes with the gambling were just noticing they were barely having any winning trips. Vegas used to be cheaper and more fun, and you'd walk away a winner sometimes. Now it's expensive, bland, and hard to walk away with a win. Trump didn't make these people walk away. They walked away because they were on the verge of doing so anyway.
