It's because of the streaming rights. There are two series catalogs I'd pay to have access to: South Park and Always Sunny. I'm pretty sure both of these do monster numbers in hours viewed among millennials, South Park obviously more so. There's a reason why they've both been on the air for decades. Always Sunny in particular doesn't do the greatest ratings when actually released, I don't even know what channel it's on now - FX something, but both have crazy rewatchability.
Speaking of Always Sunny, the new season has actually been a return to form. Last week's episode was one of the funniest in years. It's on demand on Hulu.
At this point, I would not be screwing with Trump, just ask Stephen Colbert and the cast from The View. Neither of them ever saw it coming. Regardless of political party affiliation, there are some people you just dont fuck with.

Trump must have gotten on the nerves of Stone and Parker, who are actually right-leaning libertarians.
They were once quoted as saying, "We don't like conservatives, but we REALLY hate liberals."
The show's tone has always represented right-libertarian values, as well. This is why conservative influencers have mostly praised the show (at least until now).
Trump has always had a thin skin, and doesn't like being mocked. The bottom line is that you have to expect a lot of mocking if you're going to be President, especially a President who deliberately antagonizes the opposition.
