SERVICE DOG- Private property, ADA and no paperwoirk?

Manager denies her dog into the restaurant. Woman says she has a disability and her dog is a service animal, but no service dog paper work. Woman also claims the ADA doesnt require it.

Who is in the right here- I dont know. I was guessing a private business reserves the right to serve anyone is the final word. Typically a legit service dog has an official type of vest verifying their status. This looks like she just wants to bring her family pet in with her.

As somebody whos fought this battle personally. Heres the legal reality

1. Under Federal ADA guidelines the woman is absolutely 110% correct. No paperwork or ID is required for a service dog this includes a service vest per the Feds. The manager here has opened herself and the business up to massive fines and potentially even a civil rights lawsuit.
2. Under ADA All that can be asked is what tasks the service dog is trained to do. There is no requirement to prove such because it would place the dogs handler at risk to severe risk of injury or illness.
3. The Feds arent very forgiving on violations. While states and localites can increase requirements to businesses for compliance they can not make it harder for those individuals who qualify for coverage under ADA to utilize their service animals.

I have a diabetic alert dog due to the fact I can have nasty swings and often he will catch the rapid drop or rise before my continuous glucose monitor. I can honestly say Ive never had an issue when Ive taken him somewhere.
I know there are people who abuse the ADA service dog guidelines. ESAs do not qualify for ADA status EXCEPT those for service members,former first responders with confirmed diagnosis of PTSD or similar. Below is directly from the guidelines for ADA Service animals. There isnt much room for interpretation.

I like dogs but get tilted as fuck when people bring them in stores/restaurants. Very common in Portland. Same goes with dumbasses who walk dogs sans leash.

For me- The final word is it’s private property and they have the right to refuse service to anyone.

I am very PRO service dog, but feel this woman just wanted to bring her pet in the restaurant like if they were at home. It also appears she’s done this trick in the past as she was ready with the “no paperwork required” fire back line.

I've wondered about this Service Dog angle recently

have a niece who has a cute dog and hes a service dog now so she takes him everywhere with her, airplanes and gets special treatment sometimes with this dog lol, is it smart or kinda mean using an angle. Anyway most people aren't asking the person with a little service dog, of what service is this dog to you??
