Gratuitously changing the race of major characters in remakes is so stupid.

It's not like a different version of the story is written, where a racial change is important. (For example, it made sense for the play "The Wiz" to feature black stars, even though the characters weren't black in The Wizard of Oz.)

In this case, and also in the case of "The Little Mermaid", they're just changing the main character's race for the sake of wokeness.

And it's so stupid, because it's not 1965 anymore. There's no shortage of opportunities for actors of color nowadays, nor is there a lack of depiction of people of color in television and film. So why do this?

This is what happens when studio executives cede too much control to the left-wing creative types.
