Ok, I am a big fan of these KME Predator Type 1 engines LA County uses. Several notes-
1. These are primarily structural engines, BUT LACo does take them off road and uses them as multipurpose engines.
2. They are not the best engines made and more like a Tier 2 level engine and they do have some problems some times, BUT the LACo guys use and abuse them and get their money's worth. I like how they get abused, yet seem to be durable and reliable.
3. If you ever see an LACo apparatus in person, they keep them super clean, like just new from the factory clean.
4. My understanding is LACo did not order more KMEs as they switched to a new vendor that is horrible and low bid. LACo is going to learn the hard way not buy fire engines on the cheap jew plan. LACo will follow the bad play of Ventura County Fire and buy Rosenbauer aka "Rosen-broken". Ventura County is learning the hard lesson now and then LACo will learn it too.
If you see a KME with a black roof, it means it has a Compress Air Foam System (CAFS) and this was a failed experiment by LACo Fire. No more CAFS units in the future.

Despite it being a Santa Ana (which sometimes brings temps into the mid-80s), this one is apparently mixing with cold air, so it's putting highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s for me, which isn't going to get it done during the day regarding warming up the house.
I had thought Santa Ana winds were mainly in November, December, and January. While those are the top 3 months, there are also a good number in February, and some outliers in October and March. So I might have several more of these to deal with.
In the old days I could just take off to Vegas (or anywhere else) if something like this happened, but now with a kid in school I am stuck here.
