Actually a lot of people have been through hurricanes, like tens of millions, you must not have cable TV. Most affected are impacted by fresh water rain, and most don't have flood insurance. My Aunt's house was effectively ruined by Hurricane Sandy and she was miles inland from the Jersey coast but the river just overwhelmed everyone's first floor, here again she had no flood insurance, I mean it was just something you never thought of given you were inland. She had to take a 401K loan to rebuild, right when she finished the rebuild she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, just awful. Another huge impact is power loss for days and sometimes weeks, if you have been without power for days it is the worst. You are correct, only a very few are impacted by storm surge, but they are generally the most expensive homes which impacts everyone else's insurance. With all that said, I could not imagine waking up at 4am in the pitch dark and seeing my neighbor's homes on fire and embers in my front yard knowing I am next. So what is going on in LA is likely worse only because there is no warning.
A friend who is a journalist is wondering if there could be a terrorist angle to the LA fires.
Seems ridiculous, but who knows?

dwai: rofl rekt by hurricane expert
People from Florida are weird, they almost wear the Hurricane badge like its an honor or something. Texas gets crushed by hurricanes all the time, but nobody ever talks about them there. But you go to Florida and they obsess about the conversation and like bring it up all the time. There are a lot of tornadoes in the midwest but nobody ever talks about them, but you go to Florida and they bring up every hurricane by name, date, etc.. Just STFU. And nobody gives a shit what you pay for insurance either stop bringing it up, don't like paying it, move.

i suggested the same thing earlier in this thread, 4 different fires started basically at the same time and they weren't close to each other, like 30 miles apart... Palisades, Pasedena, Hurst and i forget the last location... and on tiktok last night where people were live streaming that were somewhat close to the fire(s) they were no where close to each other and separated by many many miles and several canyons/mountains over... doesn't make sense... 4 different fires didn't start from 1 fire that spread and jumped canyons over 30 miles away and at the same time....
And one more thing, most of these Hurricane obsessed Florida dweebs say they live there because of the beach and the weather. Here is the deal most of those fuckers never go to the beach, never have owned a boat and sit inside all day long in 70 degree air conditioning complaining about the humidity outside. When they do go outside, they bitch to everyone how hot it is. I root for hurricanes to hit Florida, tbh.
Riveting TV on Fox News right now. They have a professional 'lifeguard specialist' talking about the wildfires.
Three pages and not one single picture of bad guy’s ghetto generator
thanks libs
Hi Lew!!!
Also how the hell were there kids in school next to one of these fires?
Then you have Backdraft II Electric Bugaloo trying to evacuate them. Elect proper politicians Jesus Christ.

like the winds died down and suddenly there were tons of small fires cropping up.

More fires now in Studio City. To quote John Wayne, “This is getting to be a little re-God-damned-diculous”
LOL, not enough water in the fire hydrants even though the entire state of CA has historic rains and the reservoirs are filled. Yeah, Newsome will be ruined over this, but he was never going to win the 2028 nomination anyway. I have stayed outside of Santa Monica many years ago in a bed and breakfast with my then GF. It was literally on top of a hill, one road in one road out. It was just spooky. Now I am not going to say I was worried about a fire, it never entered my mind. I was more worried about an earthquake since the place was pitched at an angle, some of those homes never should have been built. California is just weird, I drove through Eureka on Highway 1 (I think that was the highway) and the fucking Pacific ocean was literally washing on the highway. WTF. I have not been back to CA in years, not a place that appeals to me. I do want to go back to the Price is Right studio for a show, but that is about it.
Watching this all live on TV in LA. This is ugly.
I was in NY during 9/11. It was like “Oh look, another plane, that’s weird…”
Today it’s “oh wow, another fire in a different area (even though the wind died 6 hours ago)…”
Pray for Mother Druff too…
