@desertrunner, of course it is absolutely unconstitutional... but these god damn libtards hope that no one challenges it... just like all these individual states constructing their own gun laws... again unconstitutional, but they pass the law make people abide by it until someone challenges at the Supreme Court level ( i know it has to go to the circuit courts first and all that ) but fuck an unconstitutional law might take like 4 yrs. to make a case at the SC level... these fucking DemonCrats always seeing what they can get away with and hoping no one challenges it... it's really disgusting !!

    Oh it's much worse.
What Hillary said at 2:35 is insane. She really said that.
    This whole video is alarming.

Cliffs: The Neocons have made it as far as they can using deception and media control.
The minute they even start with their lies they get ratio'd and called out.
Now they want to scrap free speech and crack down KGB style under the guise of combating Russian or Iranian disinfo.

Do they even have computers in Russia and Iran? Anytime they blame Iranian or Russia hackers I just assume it's Israel's Unit 8200 or a total fabrication.

    Dems da facts

Canada is way ahead on this. No public hate speech or disinformation through the media. You will be fact checked and suffer the consequences because it's law. You can't spread harmful hateful lies anonymously and walk away. Wanna do it in public? Fine, not against the law.

We don't care what anyone else thinks about this either.
What a dumb skull you are

And you support the worst liar, the least caring person ever to run for office.
How much cock do you suck daily?

Fun fact. I met Flynt a couple of times. He stored his jet a my dad’s hangar in Bakersfield because it was cheaper than LA. He was kinda quiet, not the brash man portrayed in the movie, but he was older then.

i know it will it never happen but i have been thinking about this for a few years now, and that is before a state bill can be signed into law at the state level by a Governor, there should be some sort of checks and balances at the Supreme Court or elsewhere to make damn sure that this new law doesn't break the Supreme Law of the Land and that of course is the US Constitution... and then you get these individual cities constructing there own city ordinances and they don't realize that half of these ordinances restrict peoples rights and freedoms that ARE covered in the US Constitution, all forms of Govt. from local thru the federal level are so out of control !! and it's just total BS!! these "law makers" and city councilman think they can do just whatever they want without ever checking if their idea(s) may break the US Constitution, the US Constitution was constructed in
such a way that was suppose to limit the actions of any form of Govt. from local, state and up to the federal level.... it definitely seems to me it works in reverse, being that all these Libtards with such "good ideas and good intentions" work to see how they can try and get around the US Constitution and it should definitely not be that way...

    Parody is clearly protected

Now a deep fake presented as real should not be protected, should be libel or defamation.

For many years people thought Flynt was shot by some bible zealot, in reality he was shot by a serial killer. He also shot Vernon Jordan which went unsolved for many years, Jordan went on to be Bill Clinton's #1 advisor.

Yes, and that's where it becomes very difficult to craft law around this.

There is a very thin line between political parody and an attempt to trick people with AI-generated videos.

For example, if someone made an AI video of Trump being Hitler, I would want that speech protected.

However, if someone made an AI video of Trump "admitting" that he actually plans upon implementing Project 2025 (a common left wing lie, even told during the debate by Kamala), I would not want that protected. That could fool a lot of voters (especially non-tech-savvy ones) into voting against him.

The problem is Newsom's law seems way too broad, and that's a disaster for free speech and the ability to produce parody videos.

your point is well taken but just lol at thinking anything could change a trump voters mind.

Couple things, Vance publicly stated the reference between Trump and Hitler and it wasn't about hair styles. Trump would not suffer from deep fake AI because his recorded speeches and messages are already off the wall insanity. He and his team dis-inform the public on a daily basis. He is convicted of that. Democrats don't need to make up anything to make Trump look worse than he already is.

A federal judge struck down this law. Interestingly, his logic mirrored mine -- that this law was way too broad, and would be abused to suppress parody.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/1...fakes-00182277

"Most of the law acts as a hammer instead of a scalpel,” Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez wrote, calling it “a blunt tool hinders humorous expression and unconstitutionally stifles the free and unfettered exchange of ideas."
