Last time an 8-2 pitcher was DFA'd?

I didn't understand that Dodgers deal. Paxton hadn't been good since 2019, and even then he was hit and miss. He was 35 and not likely to suddenly snap back to old form.

Anyway, brace yourself Sanlmar.... guess who's coming back?

Your favorite future HOFer you love to trash... Clayton Kershaw! He's pitching July 25. Glasnow is expected to return the day before. They're promoting River Ryan, a top-40 overall prospect, to pitch today. He missed the first two months of the season in the minors due to shoulder fatigue. Uh oh!

What role do you see Kershaw having in the playoffs? Long relief?

He was wearing a headset on SNB or the previous Fox game. He is THE BEST active MLB player on air. The voice, the easy & humble personality. Give Joe Davis to ESPN or FOX and get Kershaw in the booth.

Ryan did good tonight, but the Dodgers ain’t goin’ nowhere in the playoffs with that awful defense. Just sayin’.

Depends what they need. Hopefully it is long relief. I just don't think he has the stuff or temperament anymore to start.

Dodgers are going to flop in the playoffs unless the pitching rotation is solid. That means:

    1) Yamamoto has to be back and pitching well

    2) Glasnow has to be healthy and pitching well

    3) They will need to acquire a durable starter used to throwing a lot of innings, who isn't too old

    4) Gavin Stone has to at least be pitching decently

Would help if they got a closer, as Evan Phillips is melting down, and I don't trust the Hudson/Vesia combo long term.

Who can't we count on? Bobby Miller, Kershaw, Buehler, or any of the other injured crew.

The Phillies scare me. They have the starting pitching, and we don't.

    In Dodger related news.

    CWS Crochet v Texas

This is a classic bum fight except it involves Crochet. Normally I skip bum fights but this is interesting. Crochet has had a quick hook. 2 innings and 4 innings prior to that. Nothing to do with earned runs or performance. Just protecting an asset.

Texas -126 or Texas F5 -122 is really attractive.

This isn’t particularly insightful as the pitcher props reflect what I see. Nevertheless, ploppies will buy the brand name without squeezing the produce. That has value.

The problem is that Crochet doesn't have a lot of experience regarding logging massive innings in a season.

He is likely to break down soon enough, if he isn't shut down early. Wrong guy to get for a playoff run, unless you need to win the division (which the Dodgers are almost sure to do without him).

The one thing you can give credit to Friedman has been his ability to NOT give up valuable prospects. Instead, he deals away "good" prospects who don't really pan out. Think Josiah Gray and Keibert Ruiz of the Nationals. How many "top" prospects have the Dodgers shipped off recently, who became something special? I can't think of any.

Kwan has been slumping like many of the tribe hitters, but I like his over 1.5 total bases at +123 for various reasons tonight.

I went with Ohtani over 1.5 -110, but for half earlier bet. More just a standing bet as long as he keeps covering.

Not sure I've ever seen a 1st place team with as much ammo to spend as the Orioles. Even after the Burnes trade. Team has like 20 position players that should be starters in MLB.

Dodgers better hope they dont enter a bidding war with them.

If Skubal gets traded (I dont think he will) it will be to the orioles.

    Scans lineup.

    Will Smith ✅

Currently relishing Friedman giving up Josh Hamilton. Legend. Most executives never even have the opportunity to fuck up on such a grand scale. Fraudman didn’t waste his chance.

Most prospects don’t pan out. Your examples are typical outcomes. Friedman is inept with a big purse

Also, an Orioles-Mariners trade makes so much sense it probably won't happen. For the Twins sake I hope it doesn't.

Ironically a couple years ago the same was said for Twins-Marlins, and the Arraez-Lopez+pieces trade happened.

Dodgers and Kershaw opened -145 last night. Trading at -122 now. Little buy back to -130.

I actually considered taking Kershaw as the sharp play @ -122 . Not lying. Look what the years have wrought.

Mariners are filthy with prospects. It’s hard to acknowledge but facts.

Sigh, I just wanted that 5AB and we get HBP San. Sorry. Hopefully bullpen doesn’t blow it. I got this down 2-1 once he went 0-2 hoping to mitigate.

    No worries, mate

    Fun game.

Freeman was .412 vs Webb. The HBP was cruel. I got it in good.

I cashed my BTTS so I’m happy.

    I did ATL NYM F7 BTTS 2+ +100. I have an addiction.

      BCR: I did Ozuna o 1.5. 2/3 with homer isn’t much of a sample, but I took a shot at +116
