The "unpopular in some conservative circles" comes from O'Reilly actually defending democrats. He said Dan Bongino was wrong in saying that all democrats want illegals to vote. I know people on the left are forming their dream tickets of this candidate, that candidate, etc.. to replace Biden.
There are two scenarios: Keep Biden or go with Harris
Let's just say they choose Newsome or Whitmer at the Convention. The backlash would be severe, the narrative would be the Dems don't trust the black woman VP to run the country, 'she must not be smart enough'. That is almost an insurmountable narrative.
But let's say that happens. Despite what the left wing media says, 90% of the country does not pay attention to politics, at least the day to day stuff. After the convention to have 2 months to get national name recognition, and no money. You can't take the Biden war chest, that is only for Biden and Harris. Let's say you raised $100M in September, how would you spend it anyway, all the ad time would be bought up as soon as Biden left. Probably by the Trump campaign, certainly by local candidates.
If this has occurred in March there would be enough time to plan this, but if anyone thinks you are going to take some obscure Governor, and they are all obscure outside their state, and mount a national campaign in two month you are just lying to yourself.
If I am Biden, I dig in, and let this blow over. It will, the polls basically have not moved. If Trump can survive the Access Hollywood tape a month before the election in 2016, Biden can withstand this. Have a big convention you go into September probably effectively tied. The Dems will rally knowing Harris would take over anyway in 2025.

The worst slogan in the last 25 years was from Hillary Clinton: It takes a Village to Raise a child. It was universally panned by just about anyone who is a parent. So to use the village argument is likely a disaster. You vote for President, not the VP or the cabinet. They use Kamala as the backup as a selling point, it's a rout. You are effectively saying Biden is senile but don't worry about it, it will be ok. Not a good strategy imo.

I found this shocking and there is always a lag in polling, so I need to see another week. Reality is we are more engaged than 99%. States like New Jersey drawing close is a red flag, but this race is over. I generally agree skipping a black candidate is dangerous unless you pick a more popular black candidate, but I am also of the opinion that when you're going to certainly lose, you still throw the Hail Mary and hope to get lucky. Keeping Biden is taking a knee while losing unless every single poll in every swing state has a 5 point Trump bias, which seems unlikely.
Biden 2020 was second term Reagan. I could live with that. This is get lost on his way home Biden.
