Dems will bank on this will blow over and hope Biden will give an acceptable performance at the Convention. But bringing in Gavin Newsome, not only would that not happen, if he lost his career would be destroyed as the guy that muscled out the first female black VP. He will stay away from that and bank on 2028. It's Biden or Harris.

Have you forgotten the 2016 and 2008 primaries? Nothing is off the table with Democrats when it comes to the assumed best interest of the party. Kamala isn't viewed as black enough by the vast majority of those who that decision would actually affect. She herself is actually a liability among black voters. If you can not clearly see the coordinated campaign that started 10 seconds after the debate ended you are blind. They have laid the foundation, if Biden's situation gets worse something drastic will happen.

This is the problem. These guys who tried to be president for 40 years aren't giving up the crown. You have multiple senators freezing up who won't ride off into the sunset. Friend's father has cognitive decline. Will be perfectly lucid discussing golf with you and courses he played. He'll remember where you wanted to hit drive on the 14th hole, but then order $5k worth of shit off of the internet two hours later where his wife needs to take his phone away before he bankrupts them. Then he gets mad at her and tells her she isn't allowed in room despite doing everything for him. The sons can reason with him.


The notion Jill could sway him is likely wrong. From my experience, men in decline will listen to adult sons, rarely wives. But Beau is dead and Hunter is a crackhead. My dad hasn't really slipped at all, but his wife can't talk him into routine bloodwork and colonoscopies, but I can say, "what the hell are you doing? You had a son with cancer and you're fucking around over this one day shit." He will be in by end of week. Men of that generation aren't taking orders from women.

If the Dems don't break every rule imaginable to find someone, anyone, I might just vote for Trump for not seeing this very foreseeable issue coming a year ago. Kamala is non-starter. Whole ticket gets scrapped. Michelle Obama would solve all issues about skipping over Kamala. Short of her, I might be voting for Trump or a guy with a worm in his brain. Considering it’s a democratic political system that claims to be #1 or at least in the top five, it is a well controlled money game. This game has allowed the “well backed” to reach high office via a reduced field.

Pretty difficult to change considering the benefits that a and b and their handlers receive but it is theoretically possible.

How about 2020 with Biden himself?

Biden was a 9-to-1 dog in January 2020 to be the nominee. Bernie was the favorite -- as strange as that is to picture now. The Dems knew Bernie would lose the general election because he would turn off independents, so they basically rigged it to where Biden would win. First Clyburn endorsed him (thus ensuring he would win SC, where he was already favored anyway), and then they put intense pressure on Buttigieg and Klobuchar to abruptly drop out and endorse Biden. This transferred almost all of the support of these two candidates over to Biden, and suddenly he went on a primary winning streak and became the nominee. As badly as Berne was cheated in 2016 with the debate shenanigans, he was fucked much worse in 2020, but nobody talks about that. Even Bernie himself became a cuck to the Democrats when he was promised a say in policy matters in exchange for keeping quiet about how they fucked him.

A September debate is a freeroll for Biden -- providing he's still the nominee. At worst, he has a performance like last night and people think he's senile and incompetent. But they already think that after the first debate, so it's not much of a loss. At best, he gets on a lot of uppers and has a good night, and people dismiss the first debate as an outlier or due to illness.

You're correct that Michelle Obama solves a lot of issues if they swap her in, but like Newsom, she probably wants to wait until a full election cycle, or perhaps doesn't want to be President at all. She is 60 so her age of 64 would be perfectly fine in 2028, and 68 wouldn't even be that bad in 2032.

I agree that Biden isn't likely listening to anyone. He seems very stubborn that he wants a second term, and doesn't give a shit about the party. He could have stopped at one term and nobody would have blamed him. He could have endorsed a younger candidate and walked away as the man who stopped Trump. As you said, he chased this dream for 40 years and won't loosen his grip. I don't even think the stubbornness is due to age or senility. Biden is just a selfish person.

On a side note, Biden really luckboxed into this situation in the first place. He never had the talent to win the Presidency. He became Senator in his late 20s, and then basically plodded through it for four decades, taking shots at the Presidency but never being seen as viable. For one, he was always a gaffe machine. Obama picked him in '08 simply to lock up Pennsylvania. Had Obama foreseen his huge victory, Joe wouldn't have been his choice. Obama and Biden didn't get along throughout their 8 years together, and Obama didn't want Biden to ride this VP position to the Presidency. Beau's death seemed to put an end to that problem, but Biden saw an opening in 2020, and he won only thanks to an incredibly weak field and the aforementioned rigging by the DNC.
