Ballparkpal has 6 lefties vs Buehler.

I need to target Buehler. I think people still using legacy Buehler stats. I need to target him as precisely as I am able.

    Reds TT F5 o1.5 -105

Reds TT o3.5 +114 is irresistible to this curmudgeon

May take some o8 too but I’m distracted by the cool kids playing the DK Up 2 Early win +180 Reds. My wife has a $250 max oddly enough on thet prop.

This 30 year old professional rookie is the impediment to our Skenes lottery ticket. We need a bench clearing brawl that finds Shota squared up with Skenes and his 8 inch 60lb weight advantage.

    My book has +123 o 7.5. Fanduel +132 for 8+.
I dunno if I mentioned it here or elsewhere. I did not see Skenes real time. I watched his 7K’s on YouTube. I have never done such a thing in my life. I was transfixed. Thoroughly entertained. He got robbed several times by the ump on super incredible pitch location. Not a glimmer of protest from Skenes. He did not care.

There were moments were Skenes smiled or smirked and I just love that compete. I recall a 10+ pitch AB that ended in a punch out in particular.

Skenes is a new age Driveline product (superior body admittedly). The mortality rate for these guys. There is no earthly reason to keep him up or give him length. I took his under strikeouts despite being a huge fanboy now.

Yeah I haven’t sat down to watch a Pirates game I didn’t have money on or was in attendance in years. That 10 pitch AB was 6 extra pitches after one of those horrible missed strikes.

I saw a post game interview. Girl asked him about major league batters adjusting to him. He said good luck with that. True swagger.

I guess when you signed for $9 million, struck out 11 in second start, and are dating the most desired woman amongst his peers in the country, life is going well. Kid is a specimen. AF academy for 2 years because he had given his word. 4.75 GPA. I don’t know how those are figured anymore. Start adding shit above 4 and it loses meaning.

For a SoCal kid, surpassingly likable. I’m sure he’ll be under the knife in 18 months, but I sure hope not.

If you can link me that clip I’d be appreciative. Legend. Kid deals filth. He knows it.

I have zero feels for Pittsburgh org. Maybe Skenes calls the shots over there. He’s the alpha. We will see.

Doesn’t the SEC have a factory where they crank out those blondes by the dozen? She beautiful but not tennis GF hot.

Btw Kate Uptons husband is a fade MIL TT o3.5

Skenes was under 109 SO before his last outing and now you can get 151.5. Like ok, we are all excited but that’s exploitation

I watched his 11ks last night. Also rare for me. Kid just has"it". I used young DeGrom as an example before, and I think its still legit. Young Kerry Wood maybe?

Take Duran, the Twins closer (oh and tell JRam to fuck off, BCR!) and add 2 more + pitches. Will be a star until first surgery.

I flip the Pirates Cubs game on. Scoreless bottom of 9. Pirates announcer thinks it’s extras. Starts giving stats about firwt time they’ve went extra with Cubs since and I’m like this retard doesn’t know it’s bottom of 9. Knew it was jinxed atm.

Game ends on insane play at plate. Need a good video of it before discussion. Ump was definitely going to call guy out. Catcher holds ball up to show ump, ump blocked from vision, runner knocks ball out of fist and ump just sees ball free and calls him safe. Review doesn’t rectify. Sure seemed to be tagged out. Will look for video.

Replay view I was looking for. That he didn’t drop the ball and it was knocked out isn’t even, to me, in question.

Whether he got that lead foot was the isssue despite the ump pointing at the ball. I don’t see what would make Bellingers foot go back like it did if not the tag. Rough couple day for this ump crew

Right after Paul Skenes was selected by the Pirates last year, I grabbed him for $1 in my fantasy league. Obviously he wasn't pitching in MLB last year, so this meant I was reserving him and keeping him for '24, and hoping he got promoted early in the year. But even with that happening, I'll have to make a decision before the '25 season whether to keep him for $1 for that year only, or to pay extra draft $ to extend him. So it all comes down to how he does this year.

But I thought he was that special to where this was worth doing... AND blowing a keeper spot for him, as I couldn't keep him as a "rookie" since I got him in the middle of the year. (By contrast, I was able to keep Yamamoto and Kyle Harrison on that same team with no penalty against my keeper spots, since I had drafted them.)

I didn't know he was dating Olivia Dunne.

I wonder if between him and Jones, the Pirates can actually be decent for awhile. Offense is still fail though.

Skenes throws so hard, he really is an injury waiting to happen.

I think that's going to be his biggest potential enemy, rather than an early decline or pitchers figuring him out.

Interesting article about high velocity pitchers: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stor...ching-records/

It also looks like Skenes has a better profile than Hunter Greene, who also throws hard, but tends to be hittable in most starts. Greene has also lost some velocity since 2022:

The closest comparison for Skenes is Reds righthander Hunter Greene. Greene holds the crown of being the hardest-throwing starter of the Statcast era. He is the only starter with 10+ 102 mph pitches (he has 11). Greene and Yordano Ventura share the crown for the hardest fastball thrown by a true starter at 102.6 mph. (Jordan Hicks did top 103 mph in a 1.2-inning outing as an opener in 2022).

Greene has seven starts in the majors where he’s sat at 100+ mph with his fastball, much like Skenes did in his debut. But Greene’s path is a reminder that this type of velocity can be fleeting. Six of his seven starts where he sat at 100+ mph came in 2022. He had one last year and so far has none this year. Greene still throws exceptionally hard, but he now sits at 97.9 mph with his fastball compared to 98.9 in 2022 and 98.3 in 2023.
Greene currently sits with a 4.34 ERA and 1.279 WHIP over 56 career starts.

Skenes will be much better than this, provided he stays healthy.

How did Shota Imanaga fly under the radar? Even I wasn't paying attention to him, and he went for mid-money in our fantasy draft.

He had a dominant 8-year run with the Yokohama BayStars, but it seemed like nobody was talking about him. He only got 4 years. $53m with the Cubs, which is peanuts compared to what Yamamoto got.

Imagine having a guy from the future visit you in late February, and tell you that on May 20, 2024, there will be an MLB rookie starter from Japan with an 0.84 ERA through 9 starts. You'd say, "Wow, Yamamoto is really working out!", and then you'd be told that it's not Yamamoto.

Interestingly, Imanaga has the same potential issue as Yamamoto -- size. He's listed as 5'10" and 175, and is probably a little smaller than that in reality. However, he's only got 4 years with the Cubs, so the risk isn't too high. The Dodgers will eventually regret the Yamamoto contract, even if he pitches well for a number of years. There's no way a guy of that size is lasting 11 more seasons. He's listed as 5'10"/176, almost identical to Imanaga.

Pedro Martinez's last effective year was 2005, when he was 34. He was listed at 5'11" and 195, and was infamously traded from LA because Tommy Lasorda stated that Pedro was too small to be a successful big league starter.

Imagine Skenes had both driveline but lived during the pre-woke MLB era. Think Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez with Skenes body and training.

Johnson and Martinez pitched inside with intent

    Skenes would never be touched

Skenes would be in jail on a murder charge today.

Braves are AIDS right now. Still not too worried about them yet, but man their offense other than Ozuna has been mostly atrocious. So weird. Fortunately the two SPs they brought in to fill the back of the rotation have been their two best SPs in Sale and Lopez. They should get Sean Murphy and Austin Riley back soon and it can’t happen soon enough.

Lopez shows how moving from a shit organization to a good one can maximize talent. Kopech will be next.

Braves are so deep and so smart I have zero concerns. Alarm in the meaningless regular season isn’t right but I understand the fandom.

    Can’t wait for September
