He definitely was a first ballot ball of famer as a drug addict though. All those rock stars don’t make it out of their 20s because drug addicts only stop when they run out of money and rock stars don’t run out of money.

This dude didn’t either and made it to 54. Like he was a ghost for 20 years since then. Few shitty roles, that odd couple thing where he could come in hung over and look like shit because it was in character, but mostly just a lot of drugs. I mean there is only one Keith Richards. He’s like Babe Ruth. You can’t compare anyone to Keith, but this dude had a hell of a run for a scrawny sitcom star.

I remember following the Friends cast contract negotiations back in the day. Threatened with a Friends walk out the world stopped rotating on its axis for a while.

I think they got a million an episode equally to film but more importantly they get $20m a year in residuals. Perry never had to work.

You are correct Keith Richards will never have an equal. Smarter than any of us gave him credit. I need to finish his book. I listened to the beginning on audiobooks on a road trip and it got suspended. Was good and smart.

That guy spent 60 years with a cigarette perpetually welded to his lips. How does he run that good?

I’m working my way thru The Morning Show with Jennifer Anniston. Perhaps I should say despite Jennifer Anniston. Steve Carell cemented his HOF status with me and I never watched a minute of the Office.

Drugs prevent one from maintaining a train of thought as you can see.

About 5 years ago he spent two weeks in a coma and 5 months in the hospital when his colon ruptured due to prolonged opiate use. He said his colonoscopy bag would routinely burst covering him with shit in his bed and the nurses would simply clean him up. He had 14 surgeries. Later on, using again, eating a piece of toast his front teeth fell out and he drove to the dentist with his teeth in his pocket asking if they could be put back in. After all this and $9M in rehab he kept using. Crazy thing is, about a year ago he said he was on death's door due to the pills, and presumably kept using. Keep in mind at the time of his death he was worth $100M, just saying he simply could not stop.
The worst addicts I’ve known don’t ever love anything but doing drugs. It’s really all that makes them happy.

That $100 million was worthless to him if he couldn’t spend it on drugs. I mean, your brain and pleasure receptors after 30 years are totally shot. Even if sober, dude is miserable.

He’s a guy who dated Baywatch chicks and Julia Roberts back in the 90s, yet chose drugs and never married or had kids. You really never heard from the guy post 2005. He was holed up somewhere high. He had an unlimited bankroll.

Now he’s old and fat and washed up and is supposed to be happy he’s sober? What fires up his dopamine receptors? Pickleball with friends and long walks in the park? Not likely. Some people are too far gone. He’s lucky he went quick rather than machines and colostomy bags again.
I always laugh when people not addicted to opiates, pills or heroin, and ask why don't they just quit, not understanding opiates rewire the brain to the point synthetic dopamine is far superior to the natural kind, and the addict has no choice to chase it otherwise ends up in the purgatory of dope sick. I saw a documentary on opiates a while back, a young college couple, good looking, spent most of their day trolling the streets looking for Heroin dealers, pills became too expensive. They finally found a dealer, shot up in their car and after their eyes rolled back the girl commented they used to have sex to feel like that. He just cooly said that was a long time ago and drove off. To your point, heroin just takes the fuck over.

Regarding Matt, I had not realized he just vanished after Friends, yeah he was basically a ghost. It has to be awful to be that rich and the only thing that makes you fulfilled in life is pills. He made a comment that he maybe went to 5 Hollywood parties in 20 years. He said his idea of a good time was popping five pills and watching a movie alone. When you see that picture I posted of him a few days before his death, it's obvious he had just given up.

LOL, you used to bag on the junkies like fuhoser, willie etc. all the time for opiate abuse. Guess you're becoming more empathetic as your alcohol addiction progresses.

In any event, tough disease to carry and a bad beat to be born with degenerate genes. You can understand why someone in poverty in a flyover state can't shake it and ends up OD'ing, but a guy with unlimited resources who was well liked who only made it to his fifties after more a dozen stomach surgeries because he eats fistfuls of pills?

    Don't fuck with opiates, children.

Have we heard Split on this? In before she attributes it to his recent covid booster (I suppose it could be related who the hell knows. FDA already had to admit seizure risk was decently elevated for 2-5yr olds and admitted there was indeed an increased risk for cardiomyopathy in teens which was denied forever).

Surprised anyone here knows the movie Fools Rush In. Saw that in the theater in 1997 and know one of the actors in it, the cop on the bridge baby scene.

I didn't see Fools Rush In, and always assumed it was shit.

Since Perry died, I keep seeing people rave about it. Maybe I'll watch.

I never saw that, but I did like The Whole Nine Yards, starring Matthew Perry, Bruce Willis and Amanda Peet's tits.

I didn't see the sequel, but I thought the original was truly hysterical; Bruce Willis was spot on and Perry was a pretty good foil to his character.

I watched a lot of TV as a kid. I was never really a huge Friends fan, to be honest, but I'd sometimes catch the back half when it led into The Single Guy, which I loved and think was very underrated. At least, I thought it was underrated at the time; it's hard to say if I'd still feel that way. Friends also led into Seinfeld in previous years; the latter show is simply undeniable.

My Favorite sitcoms were Wings, Cheers and Frasier, in that order. Seinfeld might beat Frasier for #3 if you ask me tomorrow.

Why was an 7-12 year old watching these shows? I have no idea. I stopped liking cartoons at a very young age, except for stuff like Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy.

Random note- Perry’s dad was in a 80s TV show called 240 Robert and played his onscreen father in Fools Rush In.

80s buff Druff should know this.

Guess if you're rich there's money for drugs and second dinners. Most junkies don't have that luxury.
