Chauvin would be transferred to Minnesota state prison, and would serve a long sentence there anyway. Presently, his Minnesota sentence is concurrent with the federal sentence.
So if Trump pardons him, it will mostly be symbolic.
I don't think Chauvin got a fair trial, but I also don't think he was innocent. Floyd's death likely was related to his drug use, but he also had claustrophobia and probably did have some problems breathing with Chauvin's knee on his neck. Ultimately his death was probably a combination of the drugs and the panic brought on by the perception he couldn't breathe.
Chauvin also had a history of bad behavior as a police officer, prior to this. The right should not see him as a hero or martyr. Better to just let this one go.
