It's mainly used for casino gamblers, you're correct. It is sometimes also applied to sportsbettors because it means the same thing. I think it's mainly casino advantage players using that term.

Anyway, occasionally the ploppy side also happens to be the sharp side, but not usually. Usually it's when there's a good value over totals bet. I tend to like the "sharp" overs because that usually means it's a good position if it happens to coincide with ploppy betting yet is still the right play.

Often ploppy tendencies are cooked into the line, which is one factor that can make for +EV opportunities.

However, the Lakers are actually playing well today, amazingly. Up 72-59, and been leading the whole way. Sadly I almost didn't make this pick, but I was too tempted for the reasons I stated. Last time my fade of the Lakers worked out, but I felt a lot more confident about that one (it was in Utah, a team which has been underrated this year).

Nope... a minute's worth of missed shots, finally a foul, 1/2 free throws made, and then after GS missed yet again, Sac held the ball for the final 20 and GS decided not to foul.

That was 100% a sure win and a horrible way to tie.
