You can not believe the studies all you like; the data is coming in on mortality rates.

You're far more likely to die of COVID if you ignore the above, than if you pay attention to them.

This is pretty basic folks, and there's no political affiliation to it whatsoever.

It's very sad to see a basic health issue so skewed based on political affiliation.
Social distance, yes (and I mean staying out of crowded indoor spaces, not keeping 6 feet apart).

Vaccinated, yes.

Wearing a mask, no. That has never been reliably proven, and at best it's of negligible benefit, excluding N-95 and KN-95 which do work well when worn properly. But most people aren't wearing those.

But we've been over this stuff before, and don't fully agree on the mask thing, so I don't really want to argue that here.

Regarding political affiliation, it is true that right-wingers are more likely to die of COVID, given that the right is more hesitant to get vaccinated. Vaccination status is the main difference in those death rates these days, if you're over 45.

However, it's not as simple as you're portraying it. The right wingers have taken this position partially because BOTH sides have heavily politicized COVID, and the left has lied enough times to where many on the right no longer trust them. The mask thing is a good example. At best, they were highly misleading about the value of masking, and at worst they were outright lying for political purposes. I tend to think it's more the latter than the former.

It's like the boy who cried wolf. The left is actually CORRECT that people should get vaccinated. However, they have lied and misled so much about other COVID matters, it's very easy for diehard right wingers to refuse to trust them about the vaccine. Much like nobody trusted the lying boy when there was actually a wolf nearby.

Even with the vaccine, the left is still lying. A good example is the vaccination of kids 5-11. This should absolutely NOT be mandated, and it's questionable if it should even be recommended. At the behest of the teachers union (which essentially owns the Democratic Party nowadays), they havev vastly misled the public about the danger in elementary schools from unvaccinated kids. How many headlines have you seen about the complete lack of school COVID outbreaks in the 2021-22 school year? Shouldn't that be a huge story? Instead, crickets... and denials if you attempt to bring it up.

This is what I mean by COVID dishonesty, and why it's very hard to convince diehard right wingers to trust the vaccine.

I am a right winger who got three Pfizer shots, because I put politics aside and did my own research. I wish other right wingers would do this (at least the ones over 40), and I've convinced a few, but it's hard to get that point across when they come back and (accurately) name all the COVID lies that the left/media has pushed since early last year.
