This really doesn't belong in the Youngkin thread but I'll answer anyway.
Trump, as of this time, wants to run in 2024. And he will, provided he stays healthy enough.
Will he win the primary? Depends who goes against him. If Desantis does, maybe not. Most other expected GOP candidates probably lose to him, because none of them besides Desantis are particularly exciting or talented politically.
I have a feeling Desantis will stand back and let Trump burn himself out (or win) in 2024. Desantis has loads of time. He's only 43. If he waits until 2028, he will be just 50 years old, which is a baby by standards of recent Presidential candidates.
If Desantis challenges Trump, he risks Trump attacking him and alienating him from Trump's supporters. If he lets Trump do his thing and takes over when Trump is ready to stop running (or wins a 2nd term), then Trump will likely hand his followers over to Desantis. Trump has been quietly clear to Desantis not to fuck with him and not to attempt to steal his support. Given the large age difference between the two men, I think Desantis will listen.
2024 might be a weird year if it's Trump versus whichever shit candidate the Dems put forward (or alternately, an even-more-senile Biden). The GOP should focus upon making as many gains as possible in 2022, and attempt to coast on that until 2028. If Trump runs again in '24, he probably loses, but he does have a shot if the Dems put up a terrible candidate such as Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren.
