I’m not thrilled with Vasilevsky this year. He has a negative GSAA (think WAR). He strikes no particular fear in my (dark) heart.
Also keep your eyes peeled on my Florida Panthers. Their coach might be getting the axe despite them being 6-0 because he was involved in the assault scandals that are getting heads to roll in Chicago. Great Panthers PL empty net win last night for me and my cardiologist. Got me some sweet sweet live wagering lovin’ too
If you are over 45 I would recommend packing a go bag
Hate to muck up my playoff success with a flip but I took Braves +123 small.
I jumped off ATL.after L.A. . got onto HOUSTON......in 5!?!
Disappointing to start off 0-4 in NBA after my nice baseball season.
2 very close ones, 2 not-so-close ones.
Still not good. I haven't had a single pick of the four go as expected. I'll take a day off and come back at this tomorrow or Thursday.
Brother are you scared to bet the World Series?
Saw Braves series price dropping all day, was at +105 right before game last I saw. I personally would have made the Braves a bigger dog than that, though I respect them as a great team. That’s why I am not a bookie though after this first inning. Hope it’s a great series I kind of like both teams. Houston Astros do spring training in WPB, so do the Nationals. When they played in the World Series I watched from a casino in Puerto Rico with a girl who wouldn’t stop talking about how she went to college with Alex bregman and was on the softball team, I said we get it you slept with him
Brother there's a difference between being "scared" to bet something, and having a desire to be positive expectation in betting it.
I do not like betting games with a highly scrutinized line, for the most part. Occasionaly there's an exception, when a highly overrated team is too heavy of a favorite, or where a team with little chance isn't big enough of a dog. However, that doesn't happen often, especially nowadays.
I don't judge those who wish to bet these games, but I personally choose not to.
At the risk of going 0-5 to start the season....
New Orleans +190 vs. Atlanta
Pelicans broke out to a 16 point lead in the 1st. Now they're barely ahead in the 2nd.
What a failteam.
I might start doing 1H bets on these dog moneylines. Underdog NBA teams tend to collapse in the second half a lot.
There are a few teams in sports I don’t ever touch. The Pelicans are one of them. At least you bet them as a dog, which is about the only thing to do with them. Team is baffling and I don’t think I’ve won a bet on them in two years. I truly hate that team.
If I had to bet them, I’d probably be best to bet against whatever I think they’re going to do. If they look like they might be getting it together, bet against them. If they seem sure to lose, take them. They are that strange.
Hopefully they pull it out for you.
Yeah didn't win.
Pelicans actually took a 5 point lead in the 4th, then gave it up quickly.
There was a bad non-foul-call with 8.5s left in the game, with Pelicans up 100-99, which basically iced it.
Had I bet the spread or 1H, I would've won.
Sad!
Seriously, after watching/following the Blazers so far, I'm not betting NBA at all for a bit. Shits all over the place.
Been on a bit of an NBA heater recently. Been fading Lakers, Clippers and bottom feeding teams like Orlando and Detroit; and generally working out. I assume at some point the books will adjust and that will be that. But if it aint broke not going to fix it.
From the NBA thread
I’m no NBA guy but we aren’t talking about subtle dysfunction where you gotta be an insider to appreciate the subtle cues. No, there are Lakers teammates involved in fistfights and arguments. Plus, you have the LeBron thing that attracts the casuals and ploppies. Classic overhyped fade candidate
Druff wrote about his experience with Los Angeles acquaintances who forecast great things for the Lakers.
I’m still laughing at myself how I bet against the Lakers on Dec 25th by accident. Didn’t even look that closely. Offer me a Lakers game and I’ll auto fade them.
If you could tolerate watching the Lakers you woulda made a fortune live. The Laker believers and bargain hunters got murdered.
Actually watching trash NBA is too high a price to pay though.
