    Regarding masks. I don't know how they can be effective. Isn't it true that you are breathing in toxins which are then trapped when you inhale into the mask with no were to circulate?

    Since there hasn't been prohibition in 89 years, I don't know how you can make this argument.

    You're also straying from the point. Just because a decision leads to less death doesn't mean it's good public policy. All rules, laws, and personal decisions contain a certain risk/benefit calculation, and sometimes the risk part includes a small chance of death. Designing policy around absolutely minimizing death at any cost is terrible public policy.

    I'm not pushing any anti-vaxx propaganda, so I don't know what you think you're arguing.

    There should be no mandatory policies of any kind which don't produce a tangilble positive result. "What will it hurt? It's just an inconvenience" isn't a good reason to mandate something.

    This is especially true when it comes to kids, who don't seem to be deriving any benefit from masking and distancing, but are suffering socially.

    The mask has turned into a combination of a security blanket and political statement. You can pat yourself on the back for supporting mandating their usage, even for kids, believing yourself to be scientific and responsible. In reality, you're just supporting idiotic new restrictions which don't seem to serve much of a purpose.

    Notice I don't have the same attitude about vaccines. Why? Because we have very clear and tangible evidence that they work. If someone says the vaccines are useless, it takes about one minute to google hard data showing that they're very effective. No such stats exist for masking, even after 20 months -- just a handful of pseudo-scientific, poorly conceived, highly-biased "studies" put together by people with a clear ideological agenda.

    No population in the world has ever masked its way out of bad COVID outcomes.
