Both major parties have large bases of people who vote for foolish and misguided reasons.

Democrats have:
- Freeloaders who will vote for whichever candidate gets them the most free stuff
- Rich and middle class liberals who feel guilty about their success, and feel the need to vote for a candidate who will make big government solve everyone else's problems, thus making themselves feel less guilty
- Idealistic and naive kids who don't understand how the world works yet

Republicans have:
- Uneducated morons who vote for the candidate who gives the best-sounding 1-sentence solution to complicated problems
- Religious nuts who are obsessed with topics such as abortion and gay marriage

Then there are reasonable Republicans and Democrats who don't fall into any of these groups, and both are disgusted at what is going on right now.

The above groups on the Democratic side are the ones propelling Bernie Sanders to various primary victories, and are forcing the Democratic Party unreasonably to the left. I look at some of the stuff Bernie supports, and it's unbelievable that a sizable wing of the Democratic Party thinks it's realistic.

Trump was victorious thanks to the uneducated wing of the Republican Party, as his 1-liners sounded appealing to them. The religious nuts didn't negate him very much, because some of them are also the uneducated morons, so a sizable number of them still voted for him even though he otherwise doesn't align with their social beliefs.

And then there's Hillary, who just about no one likes, and whose own party realizes she's super shady. But people voted for her out of practicality, knowing that Bernie's plans are unrealistic nonsense, and that he would get killed in a general election. Ironically, Bernie would likely beat Trump, but Democrats at the time believed Trump probably wouldn't be the nominee, so they voted for the safer candidate. But the general sentiment in the Democratic Party is that they dislike her and is only preferable to a Republican.

So this is where we stand.

We have unrealistic fools on the left screaming for the Democratic Party to take a more liberal platform.

We have a Democratic candidate (and overall frontrunner) who is known by EVERYONE to be shady, and no one likes, but keeps winning by default.

We have an authoritarian attention whore Republican candidate, who accidentally backed into the nomination by inadvertently appealing to the moron portion of the Republican Party when intentionally saying outrageous things.

Bleh.
For Trump's sake, Druff! There is a huge swath of middle class income earners who support Bernie because they know that *both* the GOP and the conservative Dems have sold out to the investor class. But they aren't the ones who believe the racist "It's the illegal Mexicans' fault!" bullshit passed off by Trump.

For example, Hillary Fucking Clinton has been in the pocket of the big banks ever since she first ran for the Senate, and is only now trying to sound like she will rein in their influence over US domestic policy. I live in a red state, so I don't expect my presidential vote to count. But if I lived in a blue state, I'd probably vote for Trump to help send a message to the Democratic establishment that they have too much embraced the winner-take-most economic philosophy that is the core of the GOP's domestic policy.
