We've seen these outside candidates from time to time, they always fizzle. Herman Cain actually had a bigger lead in 2011 around this point then he imploded. Newt Gingrich was the next outsider (out of office for 15 years) and he fizzled. Pat Buchanan, Ross Perot, etc... they always tank.
It's going to be Jeb when all said and done, unless Trump does invest a billion dollars in the campaign. I doubt he will.
The problem I have with Trump as time goes on, is he says the same shit over and over. He is terribly unprepared in the debates. It's got nothing to do with 'speaking from the heart' or not being political correct. It has every to do with he is intellectually lazy. Your whole platform can't be 'I'll figure it out when I am elected because I cut great deals'. You need much more than that.
I think the next debate will be make or break for Trump. He likely will be around 25% in the polls, and he is either going to 30+ or single digits. If he comes out again rambling all over the place he will be toast. People forget Trump is 70 years old next year. If you listen to clips of him from even 5 years ago, he sounds much different than today. He may actually start having signs of early dementia.
