I've done a number of Colorizations and the difficult hump is when the film goes completely white, then you have no detail for the color to stick to. Actually introducing some light greys and even foreign textures into the original pic allows the artist to overcome the limitation of the original photo.
On another note, I was disturbed at how poor this Edison pic looked that was posted in that thread, so i had a go..
