Vance performed well, as expected. It’s more than just Jan 6 that Trump has hung around his neck. It’s also abortion mandates where Trump has flipped after he’s been on record as for. It’s health care where he had to sell the nonsensical notion that Trump saved Obamacare.

If it was just him arguing his ideas vs Walz; it’s a 2nd round KO as far as the debate. He’s a much better debater.

But having to defend Trump and his erratic behavior made the whole thing very hard for him. He still won in the sense he came off better, and much smoother, but Walz has one bad sound bite lying about China and he has multiple silly things made into soundbites.

But it’s a VP debate, so it won’t matter anyway.
Didn’t watch live but as I skim through I completely agree with your post.

In an election of vibes not policy you see Vance promoting what he would do - which has no bearing on anything but certainly made him much more appealing to me at some point down the road. I think Vance is reverting back to his core after his cringey recent phase.

Vance seemed handcuffed at times by the shadow of Trump and I would have been interested.

As you point out this debate is completely inconsequential to anything but JD’s future. I had rather disliked him before last night. He scored points

Electoral College means this all has nothing to do with my vote as Druff points out. Interested spectator.
