Last year we discussed former porn star Jenni Lee, who ended up in the Vegas tunnels: https://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sh...-Vegas-tunnels
The most interesting part of that story involved the fact that some pseudo-empathetic masturbator watched the video about her plight, offered to move her into his house and help her get back on her feet, but he refused the same offer for Jenni's street boyfriend. Jenni refused and chose to stay on the streets with the boyfriend, which many criticized. However, I understood. Clearly the "help" being offered was either for sexual reasons or just to get a thrill out of rescuing a former porn star. Obviously if there was not going to be any help extended to her boyfriend as well, this wasn't all for altruistic reasons. I respected Jenni's level of character and loyalty for that decision.
Still... drugs are bad.
If you listen to last week's radio, Amanda Stinchecum talks about briefly living in the tunnels with her boyfriend, though it seems like they lived more on the very edge of the tunnels, and they weren't there for very long. Pretty crazy story, though. If you have about 90 minutes to kill, you should give it a listen.
sad to see
If you want to know about the Las Vegas Tunnels and the people living in them, as of 2007, then read Mathew O'Brien's "Beneath The Neon." He has a more recent book on it too.
Edit: The name of his new work, published in 2017 is "Dark Days, Bright Nights" about how some people fought there way out of homelessness.
O'brien once contacted me and wanted to know how I fought my way up from the homeless camps of Las Vegas to gambling machine pro.

Both sad stories, but I have to disagree on some of your conclusions. I can absolutely see someone offering help to a struggling woman without strings attached, but not wanting some unknown dude moving in too. It's fine that she decided to turn down the offer, but it's not a given that "this wasn't all for altruistic reasons." I have let people, male and female, stay in spare rooms in my houses over the years, but it was always MY choice who I made the offer to.
On a similar note, when I listened to Amanda's story I just shook my head when I heard her say a friend offered her a place to stay and she let her abusive boyfriend move in with her. It sounded like she did NOT ask permission.
As tragic as her story is, I would be hesitant to offer her any help that got me involved in her life. It sounds like she just doesn't know how to set boundaries.
Barry is a shiftless lazy ass with no gumption. There's plenty of day labor in Las Vegas. I know. I worked it. These assholes that just sit around doing nothing don't deserve any help.
