I can’t say I disagree Druff but all our friends are in their 40s and 50s. After hearing their experiences I kinda think it’s BS.

My best friends parents had it, both are in their 70s and overweight and poor health. It was a cold for both of them. I don’t know why it affects people different but honestly I don’t know a single person who’s died from it or even had a bad experience.

I wonder if statins of the virus are worse then others.

I also don’t know anyone that’s died. However, I know several people that have lingering complications months later. This thing attacks blood vessels thus damages various organs, permanent in some cases. Not sure how society would go about quantifying these impacts but they’re significant. The current model of only tracking if someone dies or not is misleading IMO.

I read somewhere that they are tracing it back to people who have some type of neanderthal type of genetics

The people who get it and get really sick have some this specific gene

I read it a while ago and idk if it's true or not and I don't remember all the details but this article stated that it has something to do with genetics

i was wondering how covid numbers compare to US WW II deaths. found this from Atlanta journal constitution. the article is 5 years old, so what.

    >1300 US covid deaths yesterday. imagine people in 1942, 43, 44 saying

"the war is a hoax. the govt wants to control us. my rights are being violated. there are no soldiers dying. and if any soldiers are dying it's just heart attacks and cancers. Pearl Harbor was a Hollywood production,

look for the shadows. have you been to PH and seen for yourself. the war will go away. i refuse to ration anything. will cheat, steal and scam to get mine. gold star families are paid from war bonds to be in the war scam."

More than 9/11, but 9/11 was much worse in terms of years lost of life.

The 9/11 victims averaged in age of about 40 or so, and mostly healthy, meaning an incredibly high number of years were cut short of these people's lives.

These 3265 deaths were mostly old people who already had major preexisting conditions, and the small number of non-old people also had major conditions, thus also making their expected remaining time alive shorter.

It wouldn't surprise me if the people who died yesterday of COVID had an average of 10 or fewer years left, on average, if they didn't get COVID.

I mean, it still is really sad, and if the vaccines are really as good as advertised, this will be a modern marvel and triumph of humanity. It should also soften people about "Big Pharma", because for all their flaws, that's who managed to get this done in less than a year.

On the bright side, I noticed the Rivers opened their poker room. What a strange time to open up with a vaccine on the horizon. I believe PA had the most deaths in the US yesterday. Not per capita. Overall when I looked. Get sick for a 1/3nl game. I think I’m going to have to pass. Really expected them to be down until post vaccine.

So... Joe Biden has "followed the science" and hired Dr. Marcela Nunez-Smith to head a new “Equity Task Force” that will address the ways the pandemic has disproportionately hit disadvantaged people and communities of color.

    It's a racist disease, guys.

Nunez-Smith thinks racism is the reason that Latino and Black people are 2.8 times as likely to die after contracting COVID-19 than white people. She does not cite any verified causes of this, nor does she cite any specific recent cases where black people were given worse COVID medical care because of their race.

She has stated recently that "systemic racism" is at fault here. She completely ignores the fact that black people -- especially black women -- are more likely to be obese than their white counterparts, and obesity has been a proven major factor in COVID outfcomes. It is also possible that genetics play a role, and black people could simply be more likely to have a worse COVID experience for that reason, as is the case with some other diseases.

But no need to study that stuff! It's just a really racist disease in a systemically racist society, you see. But Woke Biden is going to fix it by hiring this nutcase to run his idiotic, pandering "Equity Task Force".

On a side note, after this is all over (or at least significantly better), we will have a situation which would have been unthinkable in 2019:

Big Pharma will be seen as the good guys, and the appetite for gun control will be at its lowest point in decades.

The riots of 2020 completely changed the narrative regarding personal gun ownership. We were rapidly heading toward increased gun control measures as a result of the spree killings and school shootings, and many were starting to buy into the belief that guns in the home have little practical use and cause more problems than they solve. That's not the popular belief anymore. With so much law enforcement forced to stand down by higher-ups, and with riots spreading to the suburbs in some cities, people want guns more than ever.

If the vaccine(s) end up successful and either eradicate COVID or greatly reduce the danger, Big Pharma will be hailed as heroes and miracle workers, and al of a sudden the growing hatred for this industry will die down. It already has, if you've noticed.

    Crazy times.
