Leilani Estates, Big Island, Hawaii
Nice historical overview
1:30 ish, loudest sound on earth.
3:00 ish poisonous gas cloud that killed everything in it's path.
TBH i think we're leaving ourselves open to a large meteor impact, however unlikely.
imo we should do everything possible to ensure the survival of our species, instead we're heading in the opposite direction. smh
Makes me want to play the last world of Super Mario Bros.
In the spring of 2015, we went to Hawaii and visited Volcanoes National Park.
There is a "lava tube" there which is basically a tunnel created by lava at one point.
It was dark outside, and we were on our way out of the park. We stopped there and noticed we missed the lava tube. I wondered if it was still open or was perhaps illuminated.
Well, let's just say it wasn't exactly open, but wasn't exactly closed. You could access it and there was no posted "CLOSED" sign, but it was not illuminated at all, and it was pitch dark. I think some park employee just forgot to close it up. Definitely wasn't meant to be visited at that hour.
There was also absolutely no one else around.
We decided it would be fun to go in the lava tube with just our flashlights, all alone. So that's what we did. It was raining pretty hard at the time, too, but of course inside the tube was try.
Was fun until shortly after exiting the other side of it, we made a few turns and then were lost. It was pitch dark and pouring rain. Cell phones had no reception. They had a limited amount of battery left, and then the flashlights on them would go dark, as well.
We kept walking around but couldn't find our way back -- not to the tube, and not to the parking lot.
After about 15-20 minutes of this, we stumbled upon a building -- which turned out to be a bathroom. That was a good sign, as bathroom structures like that tend to be close to the parking lot. Indeed, we had found our way back to the lot, and we didn't have to spent the night in a dark lava tube.
To be fair with the volcano, it was there before the neighborhood. Doubt this will be good for property values. It will take the tax assessor 10 years to get his sorry ass to work on this.
On a more optimistic note if a volcano sunk all the Hawaiian Islands, would it be de stated? Honestly the 49 star flag(which wasn't around too long) looks better than the 50 star flag. So there is hope.
Save a Cow - Eat a Vegetarian, they're grass-fed.
Reminds me of the WSOP when the fire alarm goes off, and everyone keeps playing as if nothing is happening.
Hawaii is the only U.S. state located in Oceania and the only one composed entirely of islands.
STOP! Go no further!
Getting tired of my Mustang. If only I could find a way for insurance to pay for a new one and not ask any questions...
