and LOL on them claiming collusion...GTFO...
Checked a couple of days ago & most teams pitchers & catchers report around Valentines day. Seems like it used to be earlier like around now. Maybe some CBA thing. Be here soon enough.
holy shit that's fucking nuts...I thought it was in the 20s...so we have no JD, jake, lynn, chairman yu, duda, Gomez, cargo, hosmer, holliday, Holland, lucroy, liriano, moose, lo mo, and I got too lazy to look any further...I mean some of those names are larger than others, but that's still a shitton of firepower 2 weeks before the reporting date for C&P...I get it that baseball is a different "team" sport that you don't have to be there on time to learn plays and shit, but these guys are total routine freaks...they miss some spring training or workouts and stuff it's gonna screw them up for the first few weeks or month...

smart move picking him up over arrieta. arrietta is quite possibly ready to turn into a 3/4/5 guy and a 4 era

they're fucking idiots. yelich is nice player, but he's no game changer. cain,...meh...are they improved....maybe..an paper it looks like a yes......but despite his low avg and other shortcomings broxton has some value and possibly some upside. now they want to move santana and broxton? ..i mean..lol compare santana and broxton to yelich and cain...

if yelich develops into a 30/30 guy and cain a 20/20 while provinding top defense..then hats off to the brew crew...but comparing the 4 players right now it doesn;t seem sided at all and replacing those 2 for these two looks counterproductive

they improve regardless. he should pitch to low/mid 3's . swapping darvish for that arrieta tinder box is regular season capital gains

Yes, and I thought he was inconsistent before the Dodgers even got him. I also thought the same as I watched him pitch during the season.

    Enjoy, Cubs fans!

I agree that Arrieta is a shell of his former self, though.

LOL at any team that pays this guy a lot of money

obviously there are guys like kluber who make like 11 a year who are steals, but given where the chairman's salary is gonna fall in that list can't say that the cubs are gonna regret this one unless he absolutely bedshits, which I don't think he will...

    He sucked prior to 2014.

Then he was lights-out for 2 years, good in 2016, but very inconsistent in 2017.

2017 numbers not bad, but he's going the wrong direction.

Not a guy I would want to sink a lot of money into for multiple years.

yeah but what are you gonna do if you need pitching? I mean you get 4 good years, a mediocre one, and a shit one...for 20 a year? plus he goes to the NL full time where he gets a pitcher batting for a good chunk of his starts...if they paid him in the mid 20s and up then they'd probably be regretting it, but don't think youre getting a guy like this for somewhere in the teens...

He should stay in the NL just for the fact that he can hit really well for a pitcher

It is true that mediocre starting pitchers are WAY overpaid right now.

So based upon that, Arrieta isn't a bad deal for $20m/year.

But you just don't want him locked in for a lot of years, given the regression we're seeing.

I bet Scott Boras is saying "Fuck Yu" a bit today....as Yu caving in to this deal sets the table for everyone else. I'm guessing Boras is asking for more than that for Arrieta, and no way any team pays him more than Yu.

again shit is gonna start to get a helluva lot more interesting in the next week as guys start to report...

I respect what boras does for his clients and stuff, but god is that guy a fucking cocksucker...
