You know, back in 2006-2007 you could see the democrats grooming Obama for a presidential run. You just knew he was a very serious contender if not the next president. They haven't done anything like that since. Why? They've since focused on establishment names and it's killed them. And now.... Oprah.

Gillibrand and Kamela Harris are definitely going to running barring some major bad news. And the Women's March seriously galvanized a ton of women in the wake of Trump getting into the White House. We'll have to see how much they are invited to help Dems get elected in 2018 to gauge how much support they might garner outside of their regions.

But it was the Kerrys and Gores before that. Those political athletes with the right blend of oratory skills, charisma, and intellect are rare. They’re hard to groom. I agree that the current stable is problematic. Much easier to identify them in the private sector and encourage them to run for a senator spot or whatever to launch them.

Oppo research feels almost irrelevant for celebrities after Trump. Almost in a BT/AT manner. What worked before Trump is irrelevant after Trump.

That Access Hollywood audio not sinking Trump sent a strong signal that charisma beats everything. Very few charismatic politicians out there, and they’re held to a higher standard. The last two elections have shown pretty clearly that experience is now irrelevant. We’ve went Jr Senator with little experience straight into reality tv star. Now, you’re almost an idiot to run an experienced politician. Everyone hates politicians.

There seems to be a trend where idiotic decisions by presidents aren’t realized until into their second term. I mean, W won re-election more strongly than his first election. It wasn’t until his second term where his blunders were evident to everyone. Everyone knows Trump is an idiot, but if he doesn’t break anything obvious, I don’t see everyone yearning for another politician. You got to run someone like her who would energize blacks and women to such a degree she’d almost walk in if the election were held tomorrow. If the Dems had some young stud out there, by all means, but they don’t.


I’m no Oprah fan, but it would kill him to be the c-list celebrity on stage with her in every debate. Shes been in millions of households for years just like him, but is self-made and way more articulate. She’d eat him up. She just connects with people in a way no politician can.
